Yeah, my jaw dropped at that one, too. On the other hand, Steven Avery had committed other crimes - break-ins and such - so it's possible that the judge was referring to those….. but I doubt it.

The other, other thing about the cremains was how very thoroughly they were burned. It's not that easy to burn a body so that only tiny bone fragments are left.

I, for one, didn't know what it was about before I started watching. I thought it was going to be about the effect prison has on convicted felons, actually - still a subject worth investigating, but not what this doc was about.

Not only did they forget to get rid of the vehicle, they for some reason carried the body from the house to the vehicle, then took it back out and burned it on their own property.

Particularly when the areas were… not clean. Sure, if the garage had been emptied and the floor and walls looked recently scrubbed, I'd be suspicious. Likewise if the floor in the bedroom had been cleaned or replaced…. none of which was true.

Never underestimate the vicious pettiness of small towns.

Yeah, which is why documentaries like this and "Paradise Lost" are useful - they take race out of the equation. This is a class thing.

Yeah, I think this gets closer to his motives. When a family member dies violently, you want answers. You'll grab any rope and cling for dear life. It's one of the reasons family members can't serve on the jury: you can't be objective, you just want someone to pay.
