Probably due to the fact that there was an order to have cars and stuff destroyed so they wouldn’t become collectibles. This came up a lot due to the Kennedy ambulance thing a few years back when Barret Jackson was auction it off supposedly.

Read 11/22/63 by Stephen King.

The natural assumption is that no one would dare ride in that car again after such a gruesome murder. Add the modifications and new paint job and people would have assumed that it was a different car.

I had a tour guide at the Henry Ford tell me the car is haunted and on November 22 a strange gray mist would appear. This was also (probably?) bs. I wonder if they’re still telling school children that though.

It’s fortunate I don’t live anywhere with big cats cuz I would absolutely die trying to get a belly rub

They had one or two concepts that would have sold well, the Avista and this Avenir concept would have made a kick ass Park Avenue.

It looks like the seatpost in that picture is slid all the way down to touch the ground - and do double duty as a kickstand? Since the seat needs to be on the center line of the wheels this wouldn’t strike me as the most stable arrangement but maybe it works. I notice in the picture of the bike folded up the seatpost

I think the sadle pen (seat post?) doubles as kickstand. That’s why it is so low.

Man, now I just want to film the Marina Safeway to see if it happens, at all.

Suspensions on these things are huge money.

What do you expect from an Americaonian?

Can we just go ahead and make up the “if it only had a stick” Jalopnik drinking game (patent pending)? If we all took a swig whenever someone utters these words, we would all be drunk by lunchtime.

Paint Stripper you need to use gloves and a Respirator. Your brain will thank me.

this guy is a genius, i want one

I’ve been rewatching CHiPs on Prime, I’d say they do a pretty good job of showcasing 70s cars.

My parents had a ‘73 Plymouth Fury III. When I think back on that car...the first car I learned to drive...I’m amazed. It was HUGE. The hood was terribly long. So long that the speed of light was too slow for you to see the signals mounted over the front wheels. Slide-y bench seats with vinyl. You could (and we did)

You are correct. I actually thought “Where did they find all this period correct (Original) malaise in such good shape?”

Um, I live in L.A....

Oh Lord, that Fairmont...junk...the last time I saw one of those on the road was in the ‘90's...the very early ‘90's.
