Jesus, you really missed the point of my comment. Bartenders can be held liable in some cases if a customer walks out of the bar totally wasted and gets behind the wheel of a car. Same goes for the owner of that bar.

Actually, in a growing number of states, letting someone get behind the wheel when you know they are too drunk to drive IS ALSO a crime. Just ask the American Bartender Association or the guy currently doing a dozen years because he gave car keys to a drunk friend who ended up killing someone.
