I think we should point out that women in America are already eligible for the draft if they work in a medical or health-allied profession (e.g. doctors, nurses, certain grades of medical techs) under the Health Care Personnel Delivery System.
Really, we shouldn’t draft anyone save in cases of (real) emergency/major war. If we do though, we shouldn’t be holding back or exempting people based on outdated notions of gender. I served with any number of female soldiers who were more than capable.
Welcome to the hell that parents of sons have lived in for decades. See? Progress!
That line should've won SOMETHING.
I’ve said for years that we can’t justify a draft for men and not women, and that it would happen just it in time for my daughter to turn 18. She turns 15 in a week.
I’m glad Spike reminded everyone of the travesty of 1990. This time is just as bad. I mean, if they had to throw Green Book a bone, they could have just given Mahershala his Oscar and left it at that. Green Book as Best Picture winner is already aging badly and it hasn’t even been a full 24 hours since it won. It’s…
Damn near made coffee come out of my nose with this.
Rami was just a bit off balance, since the Oscar statue probably weighs more than he does.
I'm so happy she won! But I did feel bad for Glenn Close, its kinda awkward when you wear the big gold dress clearly thinking you're about to have your Oscar moment, only to walk away empty-handed.
I have a feeling that this story is just odd right now, but when more info comes out, it’s going to get really sad, really quick.
File the claim with your insurance company and let them handle it. It’s their job and what you pay for. I was hit my an uninsured driver a long time ago, and as they were hauling him off to jail his mom told me I was going to her 3 quotes so they could pay the cheapest one and blah blah blah blah. Called my insurance…
You should be able to call your ins company and ask. They can't actually DO anything to you until you file.
Someone very smart told me that my insurance company works for me, their insurance company works for them. Get your insurance company lawyers involved. I was hit by a woman that ended up lying about her insurance. We paid the $500 deductible and my insurance paid to get my car repaired. Then they went after her like a…
You are correct, I don’t need my Kitchen-Aid stand mixer. I also don’t need beer, sex or joy. But life would suck without all those things, including my mixer.
I don’t have pics, but yes I put chicken in my mixer ... lately I instant pot up the breasts, and then just toss them in the mixer and turn it on. Shredded chicken in about 30 seconds... bit more clean up than using 2 forks, but omg is it so much faster/better. Here is an article with pics: https://www.stockpilingmoms.…
Buddy, if you think it’s not more difficult and complicated financially to be black, or a woman, or trans or disabled and if you think society and the way our healthcare system or benefits system or the way we treat the homeless or veterans isn’t set up so that some people just can not succeed financially, you are a…
Lagerfeld was the typical “creative genius” who was also an insufferable asshole. That said, the man made some beautiful fashion for an insane amount of time. He single-handedly brought Chanel back to relevancy, and knew that irreverence would be key to making the house last. His knack for branding was unsurpassed.…
She actually looks way more like Laura Benanti there (Benanti often impersonates her on Colbert.)
If she wasn’t standing next to Trump, I never would have guessed that was Melania. I think that’s the first genuine smile I’ve seen on her
