This might be the end for the cross-country routes. I did that once and it was an amazing American experience, seeing the mid and south west from a comfy train. Amtrak’s service was actually really impressive on the route, but the subsidies keeping them rolling are no secret.

An even better question. Why do most americans leave their dealer branding (plate cover things or stickers) on their cars? Car buying is a process most americans loath and even people who love their cars might hate the dealer they got it from but never take the plate covers off.
