Who knew they had chains and apparently scuba gear to dive into a freezing lake, wrap chains around a dragon, and swim back up!

Yeah, if not outright saying that, which is why it seems like it would be a big change from the books, given the implications. Maybe there's some spiritual thing they are going to explain happens when you become the TER. Like, you inherit all the memories and experiences of all the past TER's.
