It is thoroughly possible to love the books for nostalgia’s sake, and appreciate the windows into that time period they throw open. It’s good for children to read them, or have them read to them, I should say, and to understand how society moves and grows and learns.

Another fun fact: Saudi men jokingly refer to the upcoming change as “the abolition of male slavery.” (Yes, I’m sorry, but it’s their joke, not mine.) One of a Saudi guy’s chief complaints in life is having to always chauffeur his female relatives.

It is often overlooked, but there are explicit characteristics of a Fascist society. Dr. Lawrence Britt’s Fourteen Points:

Do you even know what fascism actually entails? Fascism (which the Oxford definition itself mentions right-wing autocratic leanings but we can use the Webster’s definition as to try and reduce the cries of bias) is a political movement that values NATIONALITY (and in most instances, race) above individuality and works

If this is your definition of fascism then I guess Bari was right, fascism no longer has meaning. Good lord, read a book once in awhile.

Just remembered the time Jon Lovitz lit into me on twitter over vaccines. In all fairness I tweeted at him first but I did NOT expect a response, especially such a lengthy and batshit one. I ended up blocking him because he was so fiercely pro-children dying of measles or some shit. Don’t be like Jon Lovitz, friends,

GaaaaahhhhhhH!H!H!H!H!!!

Conservatives Spent the Oscars Freaking Out About the Dumbest Shit

Conservative America’s relationship with Hollywood is very “little boy pushes girl into the sandbox or puts gum in her hair because he likes her a lot and doesn’t know how to express it.”

The funny thing is, today’s “conservatism” is such a cartoonish, ahistorical caricature which is obviously based off of media tropes of tough guys and heroic whites and fake history and how the west was won; and yet at the same time they hate the media- the very same media which created their absurd, cartoonish

Now that Republicans control all branches of the government, they need something else to portray as the source of their perceived persecution.

I propose a new kind of CAPTCHA. One where you have to solve critical thinking puzzles before you post. You can type what you want but before you hit “publish” you must solve a logic problem. It’d at least give everyone higher quality social media.

Ummmm. Wasn’t the point of Robert Downey Jr’s blackface role that it was inappropriate and offensive? It was a parody of a method actor who was so unaware of the reception of his actions outside a Hollywood bubble.

I don’t understand how you can seriously write that headline considering what you do on this very site on a daily basis.

Jimmy Kimmel’s made this point before about Brian Kilmeade, but man oh man I never really appreciated it last night. Conservatives hate em b/c they ain’t em.

If he wants to be a dictator, we can treat him like one:

Because it’s been a long slow bureaucratic takeover and most of the people who should have stopped this (we white voters) were complacent and not paying attention.

This drives me bananas. If the overbearing mother thing was true (which it is not), surely another part of that puzzle is the weak and ineffectual and/or absent father that seems to go along with the overbearing mother. So, maybe not the ma’s fault? Maybe the dude who’s supposed to model decent male behaviour fucked
