You’re tall. You need heated seats. You loathe SUVs but have a clear fondness for wagons. You’d like to at least have a shot at a manual transmission. You go for stuff that’s a bit off-center but not outrageous. All noble and good.

They’re a completely unnecessary prospect in this day and age, however. Why can’t we just configure a car, pay online, and have it shipped to our house in a month or so just like, oh, I don’t know, literally everything else ever.

That’s one of the best 4Runners I’ve ever seen.

I’ve had 4 vehicles that I regularly drive in the snow parents 99 Suburbans, my 05 Suburban then my 2010 Raptor and this Christmas my brothers 2014 F150 fx4 All of the vehicles ended up with good year wrangle duratrac tires

Big tires and a lift kit on a manual transmission x5..

Done! That’s an old picture since I haven’t been in the snow recently. Here’s what it looks like now:

My jeep a couple years ago when I got ~24" of the stuff.

911E donuts

Mine isn’t doing so well.

And my old car:

On summer tires!

This was last May in Denver.

Last winter at Team O’Neil Rally School

RWD V8 and snow tires.

Not my snow. Not my car.

Took the daughters slammed coilovered srt4 to work where it snowed 6" before I left. With all seasons it blasted through the snow like it wasn’t even there.

My turbo brick has turned into a salt brick. Damn Chicago winter.

Just out of the garage, before begin attacked by salt.
