Honestly, I think it’s a few things: 1.) Education in this state is greatly underfunded. 2.) A huge chunk of college grads look for employment in other states because we have a slow, dying white collar job market. And precious little blue collar job market. 3.) Republicans are continually elected to our state

The guy running the simulation got bored.

You say “he’s just making up his own rules here” as though that’s not what pretty much all religious people do about all religion always...

What the fuck is happening

Jesus tap dancing Christ, I am so sick (ha!) and tired of this anti-vax bullshit. These people need to be rounded up and launched into the sun.

There’s no evidence that active shooter drills actually do any good, and lots of evidence that they do real psychological harm to students (and probably also teachers and other staff). Now add physical and psychological torture to the mix and you’ve got some teachers who will undoubtedly have PTSD from this scenario,

According to the brochure, feeling threatened is part of the MSU student-athlete experience

It could’ve been worse: No one got their eye shot out.

The Homeland Security guy who did active shooter training for the school I work at told us we would have to fight off the assailant and we’d have to leave kids behind. It was bananas. He also organized our evacuation for fire drills and it is an even worse cluster fuck than it was before.

Yeah, that’s really, really not okay to do to people who haven’t consented to its use. And very weird that a reporter who has spent a lot of her time on this site covering the “consent” beat would a) not think twice about using it and b) would have so little clue that its use would be controversial that she just

I was a teacher who participated in ALICE drills and trainings. We all dreaded the training. Things were being kept secret from staff. We were told to wear our heavy jackets and closed toed shoes. It was the worst day of my teaching career.

You and me both. Here in NC, some Republican dickhead put forth a proposal that teachers get a 5% raise if they are willing to have a concealed carry at school. Because that's ALWAYS a good idea. /s

These teachers need to sue the fuck out of the school and the idiots hired to do the “training”.

We have ALICE trainings at my district and it always comes across as wanna-be Rambos rambling about what they are going to do and how we can never ever be as heroic as them, but we can sure as shit try by throwing books.  I hate ALICE trainings.  You’d think the LEOs are hoping for a situation when you go through

Having grown up in Indiana but leaving after high school, I always try to explain to people here in Minnesota what Indiana was like. The best thing I can tell people is that I have never been anywhere that wishes it had been part of the Confederacy more than Indiana.

Hey, that’s just the kind of thinking this country was founded on!

They’re pushing for lawmakers to include an amendment prohibiting the practice as part of a school safety bill currently up for debate.

Freedom for me, a deadly disease for you.

They will prevail. It will be bad.

I think more Pink Houses:
