I’ve enjoyed everything that Battles has put out, but you’re right, the lineup from Mirrored was something else. Ty Braxton seems to have been irreplaceable, and credit to the remaining members for not trying to do that, but I don’t think any band, even a Battles themselves, will be able to make an album like Mirrored

I don’t know about the Brits, but here in the States “fanny” is generally known to refer to a person’s buttocks.

Given the size of the viewing public, you’re more than likely not alone.

Bitte bitte, mein freund.

This is a good day for music. Janelle Monet, Speedy Ortiz, We Are Scientists....

Speedy Ortiz! I am there, man.

Maybe never but I, personally, have a pair of suits in which I look smashing.

“Wave after wave of dapper, nameless goons”

Mmmmm. Egg savior.

Because there’s only so many hours in the day, AV Club!

I’m sure Aaron Paul will find other avenues for his talent.

The Empire Strikes Back (really, any of the original trilogy could go here, but come on, it’s Empire!)

Worst. Comic strip. Ever.

Hell yeah it does! It takes all the cake.

I suspect this is related to Rule 34.

But Bar! We can’t show any weakness in front of the Russians!

Barney Miller is actually on Sundance, Tuesday mornings, from 6:00 AM on through 8 AM? Or 9? I’m usually at work when it ends its showing, but I catch one or two before I have to get up. You can see the parallels between the two shows, with their focus on the quotidian details of the job and the camaraderie/antagonism

Night Court is probably the first sitcom I remember making a point of watching when I was young. There was something about its zaniness and low-rent surrealism that appealed to me. That, and the effortless repartee of Anderson and Charles Robinson, which I could have cheerfully watched all night.

I think I have to quote Cap_N_Jack here and say:

It was a gentler time for conspiracy-minded individuals back then. Robert Anton Wilson was still with us, The Invisibles was in full swing, and The X-Files hadn’t yet become swamped by the weight of its own mythology.
