Dragon Quest games are not directly related to each other. You'll find a consistent art style and recurring monsters/spells, but it's about as continuous as Final Fantasy. Which is to say, not very.

For me, it's just a matter of which console you've grown with. I had a SNES, so I experienced Nintendo's franchises firsthand. Then I got a PSone, and I became accustomed to Spyro the Dragon, Crash Bandicoot, Metal Gear Solid...
When I was promoted, I got a notification, just like the ones we used to get when someone replied to a comment we made, but it said something like "Congratulations, you're a star! *X editor* has promoted you". I think Bashcraft did it for me. The new layout doesn't inform you when you get a reply though, so I don't…
I don't think it'll show up on the front page, but if you access your profile you should see it.

@viciousarcanum: It's a pretty open-ended game. You can recruit some crew, attack other ships, buy maps to find buried treasure, hunt down notorious pirates to get your hands on their ship and booty, look for your lost family members... Your ultimate goal is to get your revenge on the man who wronged you and your…
@Scrotor: Can you play iPhone games on an iPad, or do you really need the iPad version? Sword & Poker is a really great puzzle/RPG hybrid, but I don't think there's an iPad version.
