Team Kage.

Okay but where’s the part where he talks about the psychological techinque of discipline where you smack your adult son for trying to go to a baseball game in normal clothes?

As a gamer I’m not even offended; that’s exactly how he/she’s acting.

Having worked for some sports teams over the years, I’d take the position that hockey players are ill-educated but baseball players are incapable of education. There’s just nothing there to work with. Cognitively, I mean. As the point of the article attests, there’s a lot to work with otherwise.

Soccer players in Europe are pretty much the same. They get an “education” through the team when they are in the youth set up, but they aren’t known for their deep thinking.

Is this a sports blog now? Two baseball posts already today? I am confused about the focus of this blog and, as such, will refuse to purchase items from its advertisers. Also, I really don’t appreciate the ads that suggest I am in the market for lady’s Depends, though I do admire the shade.

At least try to see the bigger picture.

You do realize that it’s the same owners, right? This isn’t about sports. This is about the writer’s and our ability to be critical of this website when we feel it’s not living up to its previous standards.

Deadspin Forever!

shocking that someone employing an MLK quote on social media did not actually mean it

The key thing here is there’s no reason for LeBron James to capitulate. Dude can say literally whatever he wants without ramifications, and with that power, what does he do? He goes to town on a boot leather sandwich. It’s just sad.

It occurred to me this morning - what if China in this argument was replaced by Apartheid-era South Africa? If Apartheid was alive and well, and if South Africa was a major economic power, would the NBA be supplicating itself so thoroughly, sending messages of how “selfish” Morey is?

So...doesn’t this put the insane selfishness of NBA guys in perspective? The shittiest rotation guy makes millions of dollars per year. All-Star caliber guys make $20 mil/30 mil/40 mil/who tf knows after endorsements. Even despite that - despite making more money in one year than most people could spend in a lifetime

Craven capitulation to money I can understand. It’s gross but careers are short, whatever. But this is craven capitulation to the bullies in the Chinese government who are so shit-scared of what’s happening in Hong Kong that they’ve mobilized their worldwide army of ass lickers in support of their temper tantrum.

Don’t be so quick or harsh in your judgement; perhaps waiting to allow the Chinese government time to shoot some more people will allow for a more rational assessment of their argument.

I think this defense is broadly right—but it still amounts to LeBron saying that the sensitivities of one of the world’s most brutal and repressive regimes should set boundaries on what people in the NBA say in public. Which is fuckin’ gross!

This. Lebron fancies himself the voice of the voiceless, at least until it affects his paycheck. Fake-ass sellout doesn’t have a fraction of the strength of character that Kaepernick has. Fuck Lebron, and fuck the NBA.

A good time to remember that Colin Kaepernick gave up his job and all the considerable perks that come with it to stand up against injustice, while LeBron James, whose legacy and bank account are both more secure, is unwilling to risk even a small fraction of future earnings to speak on one of the few world issues
