I really don't understand why anyone would be surprised by the court ruling. Well, I say that but I am surprised by it but only because I'm cynical and would have thought the ruling would have been the other way around.

No matter what they put on these packs, they are making cigarettes into "forbidden fruit" so there is no way people are going to stop smoking.

Generally speaking, a vehicle that gets better gas mileage is going to be a smaller, lightweight vehicle when compared to a vehicle that gets worse mileage.

Exactly my point. Politicians keep coming up with some crazy ideas like what you bring up for the sole purpose of avoiding raising the gas tax, which is the most fair way I can think of for accomplishing this.

Legal or not, it happens ALL the time. I've done it myself on more than one occasion.

I have no real info to back this up, but I think you usually see bad roads everywhere during a downed economy.

Well, hypothetically the feds are collecting for the interstates only and the states are collecting the lion's share of the taxes for road construction and repair so they can allocate as the needs shift.

The main reason this is a problem is that Federal and State politicians are unwilling to put themselves (or their jobs) in jeopardy by doing what needs to be done to properly fund the roads; Increase the gas taxes we pay.

Yes, ever since they first released it that has been possible.

Maybe you're right, but from what I've read the Kindle is very snappy to use. Most of that is from demonstrations and not real reviews yet so who knows.

At 25% more than the Kindle Fire I think they are going to have a hard time competing in this space.

"...Marvel is also trying out a program where it includes a code with every physical copy of a comic that can be redeemed for a digital copy through Marvel's mobile app."

Exactly.

I'm ok with the 200 hp. It's the 151 lb-ft of torque that fails for me.

Well, comments like that sure do enhance the debate.

While I do agree with the basic premise that what B&N is doing is bad for consumers, in the long run this might be a good move for the consumer and the various stores.

Actually, I took History 101 and learned that it has always been this way. It hasn't really changed much at all.

I think the dictation feature is in beta. I don't think Siri is though.
