I took forever to get around to the main quest so my first time was running to the Castle. I didn’t go along the coast I just took a straight line from Sanctuary. Ran into raiders, gunners, super mutants, a cult, robots, ferals, and Swan.

I played my first few days without fast travel and I did appreciate the journey made things more interesting but then I had to go through Boston and that was a nightmare.
