You're gonna get some Cap-ons.

They don't, sadly. I hope they'll put out some of that as a bonus at some point, especially since I'm on the Hanford leg of the tour (Not a complaint, mind you).

This week’s live Improv 4 Humans was a great example of talented performers overcoming a bad audience. The suggestions they had to work with ranged from juvenile to overdone to obnoxious but everybody went all in and mined everything they could from it. Betsy Sodaro’s pet euthanasia service, the rejected astronauts’

This might have been the best Spontaneanation yet. I’m a big fan regardless, but I know a lot of people don’t care for the chaotic nature of the improv scenes in contrast to the more thoughtful conversations in the opening interview and PFT monologue. Jason Mantzoukas turned out to be a catalyst for a great balance

Back in my college days Olive Garden was the go-to Fancy Date Place for my future wife and me. I knew it wasn’t top of the line but I enjoyed it enough that it always puzzled me when I’d hear people rag on Olive Garden as noticeably bad even by chain restaurant standards. A couple of years ago we were in the suburbs

In its first week, the Comedy Bang Bang tour is shaping up to be one of my favorite events in Earwolf history and a solid justification for my Howl subscription. Every installment so far has been a delight. PFT and Lapkus are predictably marvelous, and the special guests have brought a lot to the table too. The

I finally took the time to listen to something that isn't Prince and damn, thanks again for linking this. It's an incredibly good recording, and that whole site is full of incredible stuff.

Not to mention the estate of Menahem Golan.

I have very little time for the original, but Schneider turns it into a coked-up punk number with a lot of screaming. Turns out that's how it was meant to be heard. https://www.youtube.com/wat…

Seems as pertinent a time as any to note that Fred Schneider’s Just Fred solo album is an overlooked classic of ‘90s rock and confirms the B-52s punk bona fides for anyone who only knows “Love Shack.” Fred’s “Coconut” is right up there with the best Harry Nilsson covers ever.

He did claim to have listened to every episode early on in the show, but I suppose that could've been a joke. Either way, he got the CBB chemistry right off the bat.

What a drag. Like most people, I don't have Fusion, but I've been watching NYSU on YouTube and have grown to love it. It's perfect before-bed viewing. Anything that cuts into Colleen Smith and Victor Yerrid's earnings is bad for America.

And as is always noted when this debate comes up, it’s so easy to skip the songs and just enjoy the improv. Gripers gonna gripe, I suppose.

I laughed harder every time that motorcycle wound up parked in another doorway.

I was surprised to find Shelly Driftwood just about my favorite part of the episode. I always laugh at Horatio but sometimes his style is so anarchic that everything else goes spiraling out of orbit. This time, though, he fit right in with the overall chaos. His story of learning about the Menendez murders had me

There really isn’t. It’s why The Birthday Boys is my favorite sketch comedy show of the post-Kids in the Hall era. (Although the “Cerf’s Folly” episode wound up being a surprisingly on-point satire of life in the connected age.)

Hard Nation continues to be pretty amazing despite going after what seems like low-hanging fruit. Jon Gabrus couldn't have been better cast as Chris Christie. So repellent, so gross, so hilarious.

I was unfamiliar with Jenny Owen Youngs coming into this week's Improv 4 Humans. She jumps right up there with the show's best musical guests. Besser, Dippold, Meadows and Cordero pulled some swell scenes out of every song and kept a stronger than usual narrative thread running between all of them. I know people hate

Here in Minnesota we've pretty much been in a perpetual state of mourning for the past week and a half. I was planning out the weekend's memorial activities when the Apple Song transitioned into Prince and I damn near cried.

Reiser was a delight. I always like when one of the more old-school comedy guys proves to be a real fan of the show - Kevin Pollak was another - and Reiser dropped right into the CBB rhythms and played wonderfully with the Victor-Tiny-Willy trinity. That has to be one of the toughest acts to keep up with. I can't
