No one in Scotland likes bagpipe music. It is the worst.

““Cuntybaws recommended your post”
Starred for possibly the most Scottish kinja name ever.
I guess that is somewhat true. The current government does seem reasonably progressive, save for a few staunch conservatives and some utterly beholden to the church.
The bigger concern I have is with the more right-wing elements of the pro-independence SNP support who can be terribly transphobic and especially dislike…
Scotland hasn’t allowed that. Yet.
The SNP, if re-elected, have pledged to follow “international best practice” which campaigners here have taken to mean self-defining, recognition of non-binary genders in law and access to, likely, X mark passports. There will be push and pull from both sides throughout the process…
That is something JK Rowling almost certainly won’t do. I guess because it wins her such praise when she kicks off the whole “Oh yeah, Hogwarts was totally filled with LGBT students - I just didn’t mention them even though it would have been a massive boost for a discriminated minority in the UK. Whoops! My bad!”…
She is an academic though, no? When academics are no longer relevant or begin to espouse views which are categorically wrong (see her recent conflation of gender, sex and chromosomes on the BBC this morning) they typically aren’t provided a platform anymore.
I do agree that this should be tackled head on but I’m…
I don’t think Cambridge University were expecting a transphobic lecture when they let Greer speak back in 2012 or so but that is what happened. It is imminently easy for a speaker to say they will discuss one topic and then proceed to lecture on something entirely different.
Isn’t it more ageist that she is continually given a platform for being an important feminist in the past despite now being irrelevant, hate-filled and discriminatory?
We seem to have a real problem with making as many allowances as possible for people because they are older, especially when it comes to matters of…
“She’s going to effectively erase Margaret Thatcher from the history books.”
Hopefully she does. Thatcher was abominable for the anywhere in the UK outside of the most privileged areas. She decimated industry across the country, used the Scottish as guinea pigs for new taxes and led, directly, to the atrocity that was…
There is nothing liberal about being in any way beholden to or supporting religious beliefs that see people as lesser simply because of who they are.
No he isn’t. This is the religious leader who deemed trans people to be unnatural and destructive, who sees homosexuality as utterly repulsive and who doesn’t care in the slightest for the right of women to control their own bodies.
“Cool Pope” is also decidedly anti-science and has a real issue with seeing women as…
I have no idea if Lili was ever aroused by wearing particular items of clothing however the trailer reads (at least to myself) as if Redmayne is portraying arousal at points. I will fully admit that this is one of the things that may not be so apparent within the full film however the more serious issues remain.
Unfortunately, Lili is no longer with us to be involved with the telling of her story and artistic license has already probably been taken with that history. Regardless, it can still be told with more tact and sensitivity than has been portrayed in the trailer. And that tact is necessary seeing as the tropes that are…
I find nothing about Lili’s story distasteful and I would be an utter hypocrite if I did. However I find the way it has been presented to be distasteful. All of the matters I mentioned could have been handled with far more tact and care so that negative and false stereotypes are not propagated.
Maybe you aren’t a trans person and don’t really see the issues with The Danish Girl or maybe you are trans and just don’t mind. However in the interest of making sure that this comment section has one slightly miffed trans person in it I thought I’d leave my thoughts.
The trailer immediately positions Lili as being a…
The biggest complaint I have with the rep grinds is that they are just painfully boring and dull - and that is coming from a player who did The Insane twice back in 3.3 and original Wintersaber Trainers amongst others. Had the rep grinds at least been a little bit more interesting (through rewards, rep gain mechanics…
But you didn’t need to farm 5k for flying in TBC. For a normal flying mount (which yes, was slow but didn’t restrict where you flew to) you only needed 225 gold and this could be decreased further with reputation.
225 gold was trivial, farming 5k wasn’t even all that bad since you could at least do it via a variety of…
Wow. Nice swerving of the subject away from the plight of these women and turning this into a race issue instead. That’s grim. Really grim, since as a human you should be railing against the maltreatment of other humans - in particular women or other gender minorities since that is where violence is focused by…
