This issue is really tough. I don't agree with the paddling at all, but I also don't think I agree with dress codes. They are a slippery slope and it really is contingent on who exactly are making the restrictions - are these older men in charge deciding what is too sexy for young girls? Is it other women?

@BAngieB: If breasts are too sexualized to show in a dress, than asses are too sexualized to paddle by anyone in a position of authority (see even typing it made it sound really strange).

Aww I want a bromantic Otter :(

I liked this one - for once it seemed like the pressure was put on the father to stand up and take more involvement. And he actually listened for the most part - for the first time it didn't seem to only be about how stressful and terrible it is for the girl.

@RedBettie: Yeah I have a lot of strange memories about putting my barbies and ken dolls in really sexual positions. Other than that I guess I didn't play with barbies much (that's what my mom tells me, I can't really remember). All I can remember is weird doll makeouts and I duno - some other stuff that I probably

@Peptidoglycan: It also assumes that women don't know when they are ovulating. Perhaps that is true of some women, but I can definitely tell - it changes how I feel, and even how I look.

@titchytiny: In long distance right now and it is working out wonderfully. We have our problems sometimes but we keep the long-term goal in mind and we remain sane. That and we are both in grad school anyway so wouldn't have any time at all to spend with each even if we were in the same city.

@mentylyentyl: No, I'm not getting anything that is nearly that practical and will result in me actually being able to pay off loans after this.

@Dallifornia: Ew - fuck babies? But they are all small and smell funny...

@mentylyentyl: Ugh read above - how are we in the exact opposite position right now?

Arg, everyone. I am working on a paper and left it a little to last minute and am now freaking out (didn't intentionally wait this long - grad school is just a series of papers that you never have enough time to work on). My fellow jezzies - I fear that I am going crazy.

Since I was a teenager I have always started by putting a light moisturizer first (I feel as if my skin feels pulled by the makeup if I don't). Other than that my only advice is to go for Mac Studio Fix - it is completely idiot proof and if you feel like spending the money (which I did once, and haven't since I lost

@I, Zombie Normal: They would just point to the stomach or vaginal area - i.e. having a womb means you never possess the right to choose.

@PuppydogMillionaire: I never said that a falling birth-rate would be a bad thing. What I said is that Western countries are going to have to loosen up on their immigration policies to buffer their economies due to their declining birth-rates. Their reluctance to do this, as well as their reluctance to allow women to

@Peppermint: Exactly - their shortsightedness is astounding.

Well, just let this stuff happen and they are going to have a difficult time finding their next generation of little consumers. If they think more women are going to be choosing children over career like it is a one or the other decision, they are going to be sorely disappointed by the effects of this recession. Most

@m.libraryscientist: Read "The Caveman Mystique!" I just finished it, it was great!

OOOH!! (I have started almost all of my comments with that today) but I am writing a paper on this topic right now!

@That-Dude: Yeah obviously they mean calorie restriction - but not everyone's daily diets consist of the same amount of calories. And diet actually means a "manner of living."
