Sprint did it with 3g a couple years ago, except they marked the phones 3g, and said they would run on 3g later in the year, and then changed there 3g and said the phone wont work. And tried to sell new 3g phones. They didnt get sued.

That is fine for what it does. Old computers ran on less than that, because they did only what they were programmed for. They didnt have to handle Graphical Interface, Eye Candy, Security, Ease of Use and all that that our current computers do.
