Exactly. “MY grooming and beauty choices are unique and reflect my personality, but all y’all are insecure conformists.” Glad I have very few people like her in my life.

Eh, their boyfriends might just know better than to proclaim any kind of disagreement with them about their professed love of/distaste for makeup. Either that or they literally could not care less what their girlfriend has on her face.

I coudn’t put my finger on why her comment rubbed me the wrong way, but you found the right word. Smug. She looks great with and without makeup. She didn’t need to add the snooty comment about women wearing too much makeup, or whatever she said. Smug.

THIS! I know plenty of people from the Portland area. They aren’t less social status obsessed or snobby, they just focus on different trends and/or styles to express it.

Well and she’s hedging her bets a little with the “or as an accessory” but I really highly doubt anyone is perceiving my brown eyeliner as a “statement.”

I don’t wanna sound like a dick, but that combined with her little friendo’s “maybe more like someone from the East Coast” leads me to believe that people in Portland are just as fucking catty and bitchy as people everywhere else, no matter how many fucking birds they put on it.

But I just think ALL women look way prettier with no make up on in a t shirt and sweatpants eating a pizza on the toilet. Like I'm just saying let your inner beauty shine through by accommodating my v. specific preferences re: outer beauty.

I mean, why did these people sign up for this thing??? I guess to say they tried it. Fine. That’s cool. Don’t knock it till you try it. But their attitudes sound condescending and a tad rude.

I understand that some girls want to hide skin problems or they use makeup as an accessory, but I usually feel that women should wear less.
