@dman0586: I figured that's where the problem started, but it seemed the damage was done since it wouldn't work after I changed both names and I was only booted into Windows. I ended up using Winsock Xp Fix [www.snapfiles.com] It actually solved the problem.

I gave this a shot on my triple boot iMac last night. I set it up using my existing Windows partition. Couple of questions though:

@moe52: Thanks. How can I tell if the cover screw is grounded?

@samuel1613: I'd kind of like to know the same thing. Currently I have to run an extension cable across my house to plug in the powerstrip for my tv and other media to a 3-prong outlet. It would be nice if I could safely just use one of those adapters to plug the 3-prong powerstrip into the 2-prong outlet right behind

I could definitely do this. I'm on Lifehacker pretty much all day anyway... This would be like having some kind of superpower.

@nutbastard: I'd love to be able to use OO at work but I've run into a couple of problems that have made that impossible right now:

@Joelp: I'm glad yours works. I'm sure there are several ways to fix it, but I found my solution on Google and it worked for me. But it is also only a solution for a very specific (and serious- I couldn't use a restore or boot into Safe mode) problem.

I just got my computer up and running again. As japorms said, the link above was not the final version. The final release does not have the bug that many of us (including myself) are experiencing.="#c5358782">

@mechmike: Is there a way to verify that this is the final release and not the last rc?

10% towards retirement for a recent college grad? I mean, I understand compound interest and the importance of saving early, but 10% is a little extreme when you're just scrapping by.

@synth7: I agree. I don't see any advantage over Notepad++. However, I can't get it to work by replacing Windows Notepad as mentioned above. Has anyone else been able to get this to work, either with Notepad2 or Notepad++?

Great. So now if I can just get sound to actually work on my iMac with 8.04, I'll have a way to control it.

Sometimes I can hear myself whining as just a way of creating conversation. It's not that I'm so self absorbed that I feel like everyone should care, but in a failed attempt to create normal dialog, I just sound whiny.

@CheGordito: I've had bad luck trying to get extensions working too. The tutorial linked in the main article was written when Webrunner (now Prism) was in v0.7. It's probably a little outdated now.

I've been playing with Prism a lot lately. This page has a link to download the standalone app by itself for people not using FF3: [starkravingfinkle.org]

I used to take those $1 Totinas pizzas throw them in the microwave for 5 minutes, then fold it in half and slap it on the Foreman for a few minutes. The result is crispy delicious pizza tacos without the need for an oven.

What I meant was it no worky with FF3 beta 3.
