My opinion: The Chief should have only been the protagonist of the first 3 games. 4 and on should have just featured a new Hero, a new story, perhaps even a new time. John’s story should have ended endlessly drifting in cryo stasis on his ship.

I think the problem with the Halo games currently is the lore is so far up it’s own ass it can’t find it’s way out. None of it makes sense anymore without having the dig into all this spin off content.
