I just ran the game again after finishing 100% in a little over 7 hours. Followed the speedrun route Oatsngoats uses for Any% and learned a bunch of tricks along the way, ended up with 2:58 in game time and skipped several bosses, including Experiment 57. it was super fun.

After reading your article, there’s a lot of small things that spark my interest. Though, the isometric perspective and gameplay seen in the trailer make it seem a lot more like an action rpg or adventure game, more than a typical metroidvania, which is usually sidescrolling platforming exploration. I’m getting some

I’m at the point where I just got the Plasma Beam, so I’m refraining from watching anyhting that might be spoilery. I do like Oatsngoats as a Super Metroid speedrunner and know he’s working on Dread at the moment, I’ll look at one of his better runs once I’m done playing the game on my own :)

That gif showing off damage from a box cutter is kinda extreme if we’re talking about potentially damaging the screen in your pocket with coins and keys (who even has pockets big enough for this? My phones keep getting bigger and bigger and the latest one doesn’t even fit entirely in a regular jeans pocket, it peeks

This tech is sufficiently advanced to create infinite clickbait articles like the shameful crap that’s sponsored into Kotaku’s footer on every page. I have nothing against the quality of Kotaku’s articles, but I have some serious beef with trying to be serious about your work on one hand, and then inviting people to

I’m surprised an e-sports type competitive team-based arena shooter even requires lore at all. I mean even as early as Unreal Tournament, that had a bit of lore going on too but who honestly ever cared about it? It made a good intro cutscene to show off cool 3d graphics but then everything else beyond that was about

Oh boy, Recettear, I got so many good laughs out of that one, splendid game!

You mean Hot Ass-Snakes.

Tipping is only moderately a thing in Belgium where I live. Servers are paid full salary with no reduction based on the knowledge they might receive tips as a complement. On the other hands, tips are typically low. If people leave anything at all, it’s likely going to be no more than 2-5 euros for a 50-200 euro bill

We all know how this is going to end. Pay-to-grieve.

Wow, the character artwork and monster variety seems to have jumped up considerably since the reveal trailer! it’s also nice to hear a bit more of that banger of a theme song. I’d sometimes re-watch the reveal trailer for the music :). This is definitely one I’m going to try out on the Switch.

Oh, thanks for the feedback, that’s a relief! I hear a lot of people are enjoying Dread and placing it high in their list of favourite Metroid titles. Looking much more forward to it now that you’ve alleviated those apprehensions. Thanks!

I’m still waiting to play Dread, my birthday’s up in a week and it’s what I asked my wife for :D. I am a little worried about the whole melee counters and aiming mechanics that were so dreadful (pun sorta intended) in Samus Returns. I do get the feeling they were mostly hard to pull off because of the 3DS’s form

what the f… is a permeameter?

anytime anyone suggests changing to metric in the US, some hilltard steamrolls in screaming something like “Where’s your flag?!?”, like it’s a matter of American Pride to stick with it despite all logic.

most grid sizes and ranges at combat scale are in multiples of 5ft, which can be expressed roughly as multiples of 1.5 meters. it’s a good enough approximation but hard to pull off on the fly. I know my players struggle with it since a lot of treanslated material put in the effort of converting all values. We played

You may find this opinion a little weird, but I think one of the factors that make the environments bland is that everything outside your explorable pockets of open space is just a black void with only textured edge to give a hint of whether it’s a rocky surface or metal platform or whatnot, which only the 3d

Not yet, but one can only hope…

Came here for this, lol. Yeah, could have been an inside job as well, so malicious first party is actually a reasonable option. We all agree on the malicious part, though. Even if this data was leaked for GREAT JUSTICE by some modern-day Robin Hood, they’d be seen as malicious from Twitch’s perspective anyway.

Ah, yes. Release now, fix later. Wonder how that will work for them when buggy Pachinko machines keep paying out way more than they should due to an unforseen programming error that was negligently allowed to slip through.
