The strike is great and their motives I agree with, but what’s really needed are laws requiring consent before an AI is allowed to scrape an artists work and use it to generate additional similar work. This is new ground here. We need to decide how it’s to be used.

Everything is just a tool. That doesn’t mean it won’t be misused.

Friendly reminder that every “It’s just a tool, bro” defender was, is, and always will be gaslighting you.

They know it’s going to be used to side-step paying artists. As evidenced above, that has always been the goal. They know. They just don’t care.

Prepare for what, crying victim because a few gaming news outlets might say critical things about MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR BRAND that a bunch of gamers take personally for some stupid reason? I will never understand these people.

Just because Big Man Moneybags buys the community center everyone loves and wants to turn it into condos doesn’t mean you let him. Sometimes you need to have a catchy chant and a bikini car wash to raise enough money to kick his butt back to the big city and leave us alone.

Luddites lol. The pseudo-futurist techbro crowd is cute.

You do know that the Luddites were objectively correct, right?

They weren’t anti technology. They feared the harms of technology being used to replace peoples labour, and concentrate wealth into fewer and fewer hands. (https://locusmag.com/2022/01/cory-doctorow-science-fiction-is-a-luddite-literature/)

Apex has made a ton of money - over $2 billion and that’s not a current figure. It’s just not maintaining its steam. Not sure how in any way it’s a flop it’s just dying out.

I mean, it’s RAM. Don’t people just go and add as much as the computer will allow? It’s the easiest part of the whole buying process. Just get a shit ton and forget about it for the next decade.

It’s pretty damn obvious tech companies are trying to make artistic/creative labor in general obsolete through the increasing popularity of AI tools(obviously pushed by them). AI tools may be flawed right now, but people are overlooking the true intent here.

Less embarrassing than the panning shots of the forest where they added extra trees with CGI, but not in every frame, so they blink in and out of existence and reappear in different spots.

I passed on the game because I didn’t like the sounds of always running out of gas, and repetitive combat scenarios, and a substantial length. Didn’t even know the main character was a badass biker. Seems like a pretty silly claim.
That being aside, it’s a tier-2 game for me - one I would like to give a shot when I

I wasn’t aware of the ‘no build mode’, and will give it a try again. I absolutely despised the building aspect.

While I agree that no-builds mode is more enjoyable (feels more immersive and you don’t have to deal with the insta-fort building pros if you are, like me, not good at building in the first place) I wouldn’t say it’s the best way to do quests outside of ones that require exploration.  Team rumbles often allow you to

No build mode is actually one of the best reasons to play the game. You can focus on quests and exploring without worrying about constantly harvesting for resources

Yeah reading that statement seems strange. There are some decent publishers out there who would let him have pretty much complete creative control if they believe in the concept. Even an average game is still better than no game ever imo. Just having that world realized in an interactive medium with some story would

there will be no endorsed videogame adaptions of the Mystery Flesh Pit as long as I am alive.

Please, explain what I said was racist. Racism is treating someone different based on their race or putting them down because of it. I am doing none of that. I’m literally saying everyone should be treated the same. Use your words, not emotional reactions that don’t make any sense.

I am far left leaning and publicly

I don’t even think it’s fair to say white people have dominated the industry. Between the dominant players Sony, Nintendo, Sega, and Microsoft, only one of them is white. Even early players like Atari that are white have major Asian influences down to the name. I believe creatives should be free to make games that fit

What you’re talking about wasn’t even the main issue people brought up. The main issue is about not caring when a game has a focus on a specific homogenous culture that isn’t white, but when it’s on one that was pretty much entirely white, suddenly we have to change it from homogenous to multiracial just because there
