On any solid-rear-axle car it's actually a really easy conversion. Just remove the drive axle and re-mount it with the left and right switched. This puts the crown gear on the other side of the pinion and all your forward gears now make you go backwards.

Actually, the red car in the video is the "body on backwards" stunt car.
