Apparently happened in Omaha
The thing is, the folks in Burbank realized far too late that building stuff on the cheap is what ultimately lead to DCA’s dismal attendance/ratings. When you need to spend as much to fix it as you did to build it ($1.1 billion in “updates” to $1.4 billion to build) - you know you did something wrong.
Nope, it’s been closed down for years. However, what we do have is a park that is maintained much better and park management that up until recently was not afraid to spend a bit more money on rides to get a better experience out of them. I wouldn’t trade that for a People Mover (as much as I want one).
A major reason for that is their “One Disney” approach which has really hindered them over the years (what we do in CA we do in FL). Lucky for them though, Disney(‘s) California Adventure and Disneyland have been bringing in substantial crowds as-is and with the 60th anniversary upon us that will likely increase.
You’re not missing anything (though they didn’t mention it in this article, just posted up a video of the car):
That was a nice surprise. “IT’S THE FUCKING PUMA!” I screamed, to which my wife replied “WHAT IS THAT I DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT MOST OF THE TIME.”
