This is the saddest, darkest comedy I've seen in a while. I mean that sincerely. This is so fucking absurd, but melancholy.

TBH it just looks boring

I haven’t read the source material or seen the film but, as my boyfriend said after seeing the trailer “I think they might have misjudged the public’s attitude on the practice of whaling in making a movie where we’re rooting for whalers.”

The most disturbing thing about the news article is that her address is published in the article.

By all means, please divulge to the whole worlds where she lives so that the abortion nuts can go shoot her.

Tell us more about how Muslims want to enslave women, old white men.

I really don’t see much room for commentary on women’s success here, though, accidental or otherwise. It’s more about how social media and presenting an idealized image of our lives has become so all-consuming.

Seeing people who have callously committed horrific acts on other people start to cry when forced to take (some) responsibility for their conduct always makes me hate them even more.

“Respect for stay-at-home mothers has been poisoned by a toxic combination of the village elders’ war on the traditional family and radical feminism’s misogynistic crusade to make working outside the home the only marker of social value and self-respect.’’

you know its been a weird day when linds drops in with the reasonable take

I seriously do not understand people that use the “pull out method”. That’s not a method. That’s having unprotected sex and hoping for the best.

Religion.

If I had given the matter 15 or 20 seconds worth of thought

a journalist filed for their release under the Freedom of Information Act. Basically the family’s wishes and the law were at odds here.

Doesn’t matter. They give out a Nobel for economics every year. There are lots of Nobel-winning economists, but he specifically told her to go ask the one that is her husband. There is a whole long history of women not being allowed to do anything without the permission of their husbands. THAT is why this is a deeply

It’s specifically because he told her to consult her husband that it’s patronizing.

I’m sure she’ll be treated the same as say, a male African American drug dealer with no DEA agent father?

I don’t. It’s an exorbitant amount. He should get something a bit more proportionate to the suffering he has experienced.

Fuck that. This was the best thing that ever happened to this kid, and he was in no way ‘damaged’ to the point of 15 million dollars.

So cranky. So awkward. Crankward.
