I have this as a tattoo! Which would seem to therefore make me ineligible to date this wonderful specimen of a human.

Perhaps she thought he was bluffing and called it. Perhaps it was less a concern for material objects than being really fucking brave. Someone wants to mug her and she stood up to him? Good for her.
When I moved across the country with all my belongings in one car, I had to re-do my material life and I did it mainly at Ikea. At the same time, I was finally settling down and knew I wanted a furry friend. It would have been two birds with one stone if I'd seen kitty cutouts while shopping for my bookshelf.
There are a lot of little Indie theaters in my wonderful city of Portland, so I spend most of my ticket-money on films that come to these. I've been severely disappointed with movies over the last many years, so when I encounter a great one that sticks with me, I'm shocked. "Under the Skin" recently did that, and…
It took me a while to admit it, but my unexplained tiredness corresponds with when I adopted my little cat lady. She's not so bad if I play with her for 15-20 minutes before bed, but if I don't, I blame the rest of the night's disruptions only on myself. She usually starts the Kitty Olympics at 4 AM. Tossing her balls…
I'm a feminist and an atheist which doubles my fury over this ruling. Religious delusions continue to trump science, and women continue to get shit on because of it.
I wanted to find this funny and entertaining, but it's just coming off as ignorant and bitter.

Oh man I think I had my period for months before I knew what it was. I thought period blood was supposed to be bright red! Thus when I kept seeing brown stuff in my undies, I just thought I wasn't wiping well. It was probably a bit of denial too, cuz who wants a period, amiright? Finally my mom approached me with my…
I think travel is the single most important thing a young person can do. I started when I was 19 by taking advantage of every trip my tiny university campus offered, and I have yet to stop traveling. I taught English in South Korea for 2 years, which set me up very well, financially-speaking, and allowed me to choose…
Honestly, I loved Oryx and Crake and Year of the Flood, but I don't know why and I can barely remember them. Thus, when I attempted to read Maddaddam 4 years later, I just couldn't get into it. I'll have to go back to it later.
Are You Asking For It?: 24 Outfits Judges Ruled As Cause of Sexual Assault
This is extremely common. I work for a company involved with preparing people for careers in securities. These firms offer people jobs contingent on certain conditions, such as graduating from a certain school, or their ability to pass a securities exam. If they cannot meet these conditions, they do not get the job.
This was me all last night. I fumed for HOURS reading comments of men sympathizing with the killer's plight. I was so mad I just didn't know what to do about it. I posted a minor rant to social media and it was derailed within minutes by a man, delegitimizing my voice and opinion because there are bigger issues out…
Neverseenavagina, you seem like a genuinely unlikable person. Your earnestness about society being at fault for this doesn't excuse the fact that you are unlikable. I knew a boy like you in college, and he complained all the time about how shy he was and how girls didn't like him and was always asking why why why. He…
What kind of mind gymnastics must you go through to blame other people for an unlikable characteristic within yourself? If I smelled bad all the time and knew it, I wouldn't blame other people for not liking me for it. If you are uncomfortably shy and you know it makes other people uncomfortable, why do you blame…
As far as I know, every country in the world is in a lot of debt. And I agree our military is too big, and I was happy to hear recently that it's being reduced. But we're all still humans— should we really define our humanity with borders and debt ceilings?
Sorry...I honestly didn't mean that to come off condescending. I probably should have read over my comment before I submitted. :( #pleaseforgiveme
If you'd been following the news at all, you'd know that the mothers of the girls have been protesting using the hashtag for a while now to bring attention to this crime. I think it's a great show of solidarity for the First Lady to use the symbol of the protest that the mothers themselves began.
If a country has the power and resources available to help out when atrocities happen, aren't we required, on a human level, to do so?
