To me she’s always trying way too hard and I get the vibe she’s deluded into believing that everybody really loves her.

Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield look almost unrecognizable in their new roles as televangelists Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker
There is so much I like about this: I adore Jessica Chastain, and so want to see her with a role that equals her astonishing breakthrough in 2011-12, and this kind of story (rags to riches back to rags) is my kind of thing...but man, those prosthetics she has look like something made for an SNL skit.
I’m worried this will subject me to another two hours of poorly-done Minnesota accents, but I’ll watch this since Showalter is directing and this could be one of Chastain’s better film choices. I think she’s good at her job, and her filmography should be better.
Objectively, Mayim Bialik did a decent job, but there’s something just so incredibly off-putting about her personality. Someone said, “smarmy”, someone else said, “faux intellectual” - that comes close but doesn’t quite capture whatever it is about her that rubs me the wrong way.
Unfortunately Mayim Bialik is using her PHD in Neuro science to promote and do commercials for some junky supplement that claims to improve “neuro cognitive function”. So in that way, she and Dr. Oz are more alike than we thought.
Bialik has no place hosting. She’s anti-vax and anti-science, and using her doctorate to push snake oil. Also rather wooden and giggly.
Bialik’s anti-vax stance didn’t go away. She’s stated that she and her children will ONLY be vaccinated for Covid-19. She’s an anti-science monster. And she’s anti-vax because she shared a physician with... Jenny McCarthy. She had no place hosting the show.
She dresses like a Monty Python Pepperpot.
Nah, fuck Bialik. Get her faux-intellectualism the fuck outta here.
The obvious choice is Will Ferrell as Alex Trebek .Forever.
She’s also an extremely Islamophobic Zionist who gave money to the IDF while they were mowing down women and children a few years ago. Not a great person!
Mayim “I actually have a PhD, have I told you about it?” Bialik belongs second to last, only above Dr. Oz. She’s an anti-vax sympathizer who is currently doing commercials for some brain health supplement snake oil too.
Yes, but they also do very well for activities that don’t require nods to fashion. I have a bright yellow pair with all the holes in them for out in the garden... they’re easy to rinse off and quick to drain and dry. I have a black pair that have no holes anywhere that are excellent kitchen shoes... comfy for standing…
Honestly, what could she possibly have said here that would have been acceptable to anyone? If more people show up at the U.S. border, when we can’t even process the ones who are already there, then how does this lead to any sort of a positive outcome for anyone?
“I never watched Mad Men”...but let me tell you all about it.
She’s fantastic and the new album is killer. I also really dig Juliana Hatfield’s new album. Makes me feel hopeful that these artists still do their thing so well.
I’ll never forget how the actress playing Megan was savaged online during the show’s run. I thought she did a great job playing a young woman negotiating a crazed dreamscape trying to figure out what she was supposed to be doing.
It took me a while to like whitechocolatespaceegg, but eventually I got there, and now I’d consider it easily her second best, after the obvious stone cold classic that is Exile in Guyville.
Her shift to more polished, more produced work started with whitechocolatespaceegg and what’s come afterward, both the glossy pop albums and her screwing around and having fun on Funstyle, all feel very much like sequels to that album.
