Punch-Drunk Love is most definitely a comedy, in my opinion. It's also better than all the other films on this list. It should probably be number one.

I agree that it's dumb to expect people not to talk about it, but to stand on a high horse and declare it right to criticize and pass judgment on people for "succumbing to vanity" feels weird to me.
I didn't mean to imply that they got a pass, but that Rene Zellweger, Meg Ryan, Nicole Kidman, etc. have had it much worse. Maybe they haven't. Maybe I'm wrong.
On what moral grounds is it justified to criticize someone based on their looks just because? To what end? Also, why aren't the Mickey Rourkes and Michael Jacksons of the world ever as vilified as the Rene Zellwegers?
I own a pair of their shoes. They have too many latex nipples for my taste, but they're great for ice skating.
I used to play this soundtrack so fucking much when I was a kid. I'm glad it's getting some love.
Why don't I like Miles Teller? I usually never hate people I don't know for no reason but I can't stand the guy. Him and Eckhart were good in Rabbit Hole, though.
It's been very disappointing watching Veep become a completely different show these past few episodes. The sudden broad comedy, contrived plotting and lazy attempts at cleverness were almost painful after four seasons of Iannucci's writing.
It definitely paled in comparison to almost every other angry speech Veep has done in the past — but then so did everything else these past few episodes. Great acting from Tony Hale though, as always.
At least that one has dinosaurs. The Terminal is insufferable.
War of the Worlds was number 8 in Cahiers du Cinema's list of best films of the 00's. And deservedly so. In it, Spielberg takes the mold of those great sci-fi films dipped in Cold War paranoia and transfers it to a post 9/11 America.
I MISS MAD MEN!!!! I didn't even read the article. I just came straight down here to say THAT I MISS MAD MEN SO MUCH!!!! I NEED IT BACK IN MY LIFE!!!!
Ha! Well, agree to disagree. I buy that "coincidence" in Jurassic Park more than the "hallucination". Think of it this way, what would you prefer? That the T-Rex appears out of nowhere, or that Laura Dern "hallucinates" a dead character who casually mentions not only the "deep" themes of the film, but the way they can…
I meant the scene where a dead character reappears for no other reason other than to spell out everything for us and the main character. It's one of the worst examples of lazy storytelling I have seen in a respected film in recent years.
Agreed. Not even Gravity "survived" it, in my opinion. Such a technically impressive film at the service of a terrible screenplay. The ending was offensive.
DEEP BLUE SEA! That's the one.
The so called "superbly entertaining Liam Neeson thriller Non-Stop" is pretty awful in my opinion, so maybe I'll enjoy this one. Or maybe it's worse and I'll be longing for that 90's shark movie. Remember that one? Good times.
I agree that he does have a distinct style. He fits right there with the Michael Bays and Zack Snyders of the world. One could argue that the overwhelming demand for big Hollywood blockbusters these past 30 years have opened the golden doors to these directors whose high degree of craft yet artless sensibilities…
I was going to say there is some campy self-awareness to his garbage that I appreciate more than the self-seriousness of a lot of other Hollywood crap… but then I read the interview and I don't even know anymore :/
The past two episodes have me worried. Hopefully it's just a weird phase and not what Veep will become. The season started on such a strong foot :/
