It got hammered by critics that year, and I agree with you that I always liked them with Prince Paul, but Stakes is still one of my favorite albums ever. I liked the direction they went in.

As I said in another comment, something just went bad in '96 when it came to over-commercialization. And that's just not in music, but all commercial media.
Stakes is High should at least get a nod.
