I didn't even see this episode (I saw the pilot and I'm on the fence about the show), but I'm already betting that Mrs. Grindle acquired the locket as payment for an abortion she performed on Cocoran's daughter, who later died from the procedure. It all fits!

Ah, didn't realize that. I knew something was up with Oswin, but I expected her to be a sleeper agent like her "mother" was at the start of the episode, or the guy from Alaska who inexplicably had a British accent (he and his crew were the creepiest things in the episode, IMHO).

I found the episode a bit boring. Zombies have been done, Daleks have been done, and I want to slap Moffat for making Amy infertile and therefore, wanting to "set Rory free." Because, clearly, this is the 1950s and all alternate forms of having children, from adoption to hiring a surrogate are way too stigmatized too

I'd watch that. But I watched Junior with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. So M-Preg is fine by me!

"Amy's Choice" in Series 5 made it pretty clear that he wanted kids, which made the baby stealing in Series 6 all the more tragic.

Nah, "Jean" and "Jane" are so close in spelling I read "Jean" in your original post.

I saw the 2009 movie, and then I watched the original 1980 film for comparison. Whoa! It was funny, it was dark, it was, yes, "gritty." It dealt with drugs, violence, and even a teenaged girl opting for abortion. The 2009 version didn't work because they slathered the premise with Purell and removed everything that

Wait, if Nina is Jean Grey (which is a great parallel btw, hadn't thought of it before you mentioned it, but it just fits), then is Bill Cyclops as the next-in-command, or would Cyclops be Hicks, as Nina's one time love interest?

I only caught part of season one in reruns, so I gotta ask: What's Dani's deal? Is she hanging out with Parish to spy for her dad (if so, I assume Parish realizes this and is going to use her as a counter-mole), or does she believe in the Red Flag cause despite Dr. Rosen?

I'm still wondering about the guy's descendants. If he had 31 grandchildren, he must have numerous great-, great-great-,, etc grandkids somewhere. Did he just lose interest after the second generation?
