If you actually watch the review, he's completely and totally reasonable and fair on the car throughout. I mean, perhaps you're picking up on something I'm not, but I didn't see a thing wrong with what he said about the car.

I'm hoping Renault themselves will have a crack at it. They've already confirmed that a sporty version is on the way, and RenaultSport are some of the best in the business.
Why would someone be embarrassed by an 'Up!'? They've been incredibly well-received, by both the general public and the automotive press - I see plenty around, and they reviewed very well - and are no more 'appliance-like' than any other car. If anything, they're actually something of a fashion statement around here.
The old single-clutch automated manual is gone. On the new ForFour, there is a choice of 5 speed manual or a dual-clutch automated manual that can only be better than the crappy old single-clutch auto-manual.
I watched the review... I don't think he was too hard on it at all. He was just pointing out that there are city cars that are a little more fun... and with its layout, it has the *potential* to be a poor-man's Porsche. I predict the tuner scene might pick up on this.
Fucking Feds.
He does go on to say that, even as compared to its more immediate contemporaries, like the VW Up!, Fiat Panda and Hyundai i30, the new Twingo still lacks for fun and driver involvement. The 911 comparison's less about setting unfair standards than it is noting the novelty that you can buy a brand new city car, that…
Not even that, but just give it the Renault 1.2 liter turbo engine, tune it from 130 to 145hp, a few fun chassis mods, and voila! A RWD, practical, affordable sporty car that gets 40+ MPG.
Sadly, a four won't fit.
waaaaaaat. I want every one.
I really hope that Smart sends us the ForFour, which is almost identical to the Twingo. I really want to try it. Without being really any bigger than my Fiat 500, it'll be way, way more useful. And if my conversions are correct, this thing in turbo guise should get 45-48mpg hwy.
The beetle was rear engine and rear wheel drive and designed by the same guy who designed the 911 yet we don't expect them to drive alike.
It's a 900cc 3-pot. It costs under $20K US in its top-of-the-line form. Stop thinking of it as a little 911.
My car is front engined and real wheel drive like a Dodge Viper, but it's not as much fun as I hoped. [/sarcasm]
I can't wait to see what happens when/if Renaultsport get their hands on this. This won't need much power, but even at 140 hp, this thing would be an awesome little screamer.
Put the Megane R.S. 265 motor in it and boom, something that might just embarrass a base 911.
