“Yet Blizzard still hasn’t done what I want them to.”
I don’t think the number of people interested in legacy relative to retail is as big as you think.
I don’t know how anyone doesn’t understand this - it’s common sense. And yet everyone thinks THEIR opinion is the majority one. Of course it is; as a person you naturally gravitate toward people with similar interests and ideas. Thus you only see what you want to see.
The few guys can get away with zero support, instability, and data loss, and any other problems that might crop up with minimal consequences. People would just shrug it off. If Blizzard were to provide classic servers, users would expect the same level of support that is provided for the current servers.
If Nostro’s server went down, people would be, “oh okay, get it back up”
bit more complicated than that. MMOs, even if they are keeping it ‘as is’ content, balance, and game play wise, still requires a large amount upkeep in the form of updates. The more people flock to a server, the more things have the potential to break under the strain. This private server, while well taken care of and…
Because the pirates did it in a self-contained environment away from everything else. If Blizzard did it, they’d need it integrated into their account system, their launcher/CDN service, the website, forums, update schedules, spin off the team to service it, customer support, marketing, community management...

Oh who pays attention. Point is, the name Link has applied to plenty of different people through the timeline, so God of War could do something similar: take a Viking guy who doesn’t have the Spartan backstory and name him Kratos.
If your new hero is basically going to be another version of Kratos, why not just go with Kratos?
Except that Legend of Zelda is a series of incarnations of the Hero of Time, so Link’s been like a dozen different people at this point. So if we used the Zelda example on God of War, we’d have a new angry man take up the mantle of Kratos, which is exactly what this article is hoping for.
aRPG wise Diablo 3 still gets updates and the word is an expansion is on the way eventually. Starcraft 2 was getting expansions until recently, we might still see another RTS somewhere down the line.
While I sympathize with your love of the unknown — I love surprises too! — this is a news outlet, and we don’t believe that reporting on news requires a spoiler warning. Sorry.
I doubt it really has anything to do with money at all. The original FFVII with shitty (not for it’s time) PS1 graphics took FOUR FUCKING DISKS. Even the PC mods that make it look a little nicer are like 15GB. Modern graphics resources take crazy amounts of space, so if they tried to release the whole thing in an HD…
So, basically, what you’re saying is, “Rush it to the market, Squeenix, so I can bitch about how much got cut out later. I don’t care about quality until the game is out, then I will be very angry that you did exactly what I wanted you to do.” Got it.
I’m sorry but you’re just so, so wrong.
