I don't get the head gasket thing. I guess my family has been really lucky because we've never had that problem on any of ours nor has anyone we know. I'm not saying you're wrong but either there's a way to avoid this problem (or delay it) or I know a lot of lucky people.

I guess my view when I asked was why tell people to drive gently in breakin rather than just leave out the breakin from the manual? I was thinking what's the liability in not tell people to drive gently for breaking as opposed to what's the liability to telling people to drive hard during breakin?

The last STI was garbage.

I was cross shopping the STI and the Prius until just now.

I'm curious, what liability are you referring to?

2010+ Outbacks and 2014+ Foresters have the same 8.7 inches of ground clearance. You're right about 4L. Subaru hasn't offered that in the states for a long time, and I'm not sure if it's even available in Australia anymore. The current Outbacks offer a limited slip rear diff and the Forester has X-Drive which is

The manual is very clear. Don't go full throttle or above 4k rpms for the first 1k miles. Also to vary rpms and don't use cruise for the first 1k.

I understand. The problem is very few people take the break in procedure seriously. I've been told by dealers that the new ones no longer have to be broken in. Lies!!!! Just drive gently for the eternity that is the 1st 1,000 miles and most likely everything will be great.

Crap. I guess I better buy the 911 when I reach that point.

Burn oil? That's a new one. My family has never had that problem with any of our Subarus. We've had 10 between all of us between 1976 and now.

And then buy it back from them with a Carmax warranty? ;-)

It sounds like it will be more effective at causing it.

Somehow we all know this is far from the only problem. This will not end well.

This is just stupid local-news fear-baiting. Don't fall for it, or, more likely, make sure your mom doesn't fall for it. You can put any kind of insipid stickers that you want on the windows of your car, and unless it's your social security number, you're not going to make yourself any more a potential crime victim

They even point out the crude drawing of the dog and somehow infer it's a "Small, non-guard dog." Are there versions of these stickers that offer a more vicious looking dog?

Good to know. My clients are all US based, so I learned something new today. Seized cars seem to make their way to auctions here if the police don't have other uses for them.

Do you live outside if the US? Where did you get this information that insurance companies charge more for previously seized cars? I have never once seen this as a rating factor at any of my clients nor heard of it from anyone else in the industry.

In other words, we'll never know the whole story.

Yeah, when you put it like that, it's not looking so bad. You get the safety and distance benefits of a big commercial operation and the luxury of a private jet. I will say that you have to have a lot of money or a company that really likes you to justify this, but I guess that goes without saying. What really

Team Viewer is great if it works. On my PC, it causes the network speeds to slow way down and then it quits being able to do anything on the network at all. When I quit Team Viewer, the problem stopped. This was only a few months ago. I don't know if it's fixed yet.
