“a tip of 18% to 25% of the total bill is customary, perhaps more for exceptional service”

The bottom picture doesn’t look like something you’d drive while fighting Terminators though
It constantly baffles me that there are allegedly intelligent people who don’t seem to understand that humans are individuals and have different likes and dislikes. Maybe they don’t think that other people are real, maybe they’re trying to do some ‘The Secret’ shit and will their desires into reality by just speaking…
I haven’t subscribed to Peacock but when I saw the trailer for this I definitely got Hiaasen vibes. If this successfully captures the ‘Florida is a weird, wild, wacky and somehow both wonderful and woeful place’ feel of his books then I’m going to have to check this out. I’ve always wondered how well his books would…
If it works out the way you’d expect, and the trans competitors end up clustered at the top of the field then yeah, it obviously would be unfair to the women they were competing against. Just as if half a percent of competitors in a sport were allowed to take PEDs. All the people in favor of transwomen in women’s…
Do you have any poll numbers to back this up? I mean, he’s got at least one.
I’m willing to bet there are roughly as many aficionados of womens’ sport on both sides of the argument. Personally, I don’t care much about sports except as a social phenomenon, so I say let transwomen compete in women’s collegiate and professional leagues for 15-20 years and get some real-world data. Maybe the…
It’s not going to work for people who have multiple drivers in the household (which is a lot of people with spouses and driving-age kids). It’s probably going to be a novelty if they don’t introduce it in a way that automatically adjusts the display for the driver’s eye position. And its not going to last long if, as…
I’m wondering what grounds there are to sue. I mean, on the video recordings of the incident Rosenbaum was clearly the aggressor before getting shot. Suing someone for not allowing themselves to be violently assaulted seems like it’s not going to go very far.
I wish Foundation were good, but For All Mankind is frickin’ great. I like Silo as well, but it’s a bit slow-paced.
IE there’s no longer enough staff/money to cover everything that might be of interest so they’re only going to focus on the big stuff like Star Wars and Marvel because those are guaranteed clicks.
You might be right about overprescription, especially with regards to kids. I think you’re definitely right about self-diagnosis, particularly with regards to social media.
While I agree that people should be able to express themselves without being subject to abuse, if a particular expression of self is going to be likely to attract abuse it seems counterproductive to a person’s overall wellbeing to encourage them to pursue it.
It’s kind of what ‘Second, the suicidal ideation, depression, etc. stems from how one is treated for being who they are - rejection, abuse, etc. - not off-the-cuff when they realize their identity is different from their physical self’ would suggest is the right course of action. I might be misunderstanding your…
More or less my thoughts. A fully-voiced protagonist is fine for something like The Witcher or Mass Effect, where the character is mostly defined from the start. It’s not as good for something like Fallout where the player has broad latitude to create their own character.
If it was a race, though, wouldn’t the other competitors just point out that he was riding behind a car for at least part of the race? I mean, if there’s video of it then someone had to have seen it.
If the distress from gender dysphoria comes from being treated differently by those around them when they express it, doesn’t that suggest that the right way to deal with it is to steer kids away from it rather than encouraging them to go with it?
Wouldn’t a time trial require some sort of official present to make it, er, official? The sort of person whose signature would be required for the time to mean more than just saying “I did this faster than anyone else ever did, no I have no hard evidence take my word bro?”
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with sororities/fraternities being selective about who they’re looking for, nor in the criteria they use. They’re social organizations, so it makes sense that they’re looking for the type of people that would easily fit in. It seems rather silly to have ‘consultants’ that can cost…
