Unless it gets 700 miles of range, while towing a 25k pound trailer at 80 mph, and is able to carry 10 yards of dirt, this thing is USELESS! I do that every single day and every electric car must meet this requirements to be worth a shit because it clearly wouldn’t work for anybody else or their needs
you can set up and be comfortable regardless of the ground type, rocky, wet, hardpacked, uneven, etc. Also, it’s quick to set up/breakdown and you don’t have to unload/load up gear in the back of the vehicle, freeing up space for other things.
If the vehicle catches on fire I would say that would reduce the value
This is hands down the most egregious use of a listicle yet on Jalopnik. You should genuinely feel bad about it. I’m not kidding, shame on you.
you don’t seem to understand power and energy density. it literally doesn’t have any more power than gasoline. it actually has less power. but it’s ability to create more wheel horsepower is greater because of its resistance to knock
That’s one of the most wrong things in this comment section. It doesn’t have “twice the power” and there’s actually not a chance in physics that you get “much better mpgs”. Ethanol has significantly lower energy density and thus requires significantly more fuel to produce the same power as gasoline.
pssst... people will pay $150k for a wild suv
Not to mention, people used to own more cars than they do now. Now it seems everybody leases and is locked into the vehicle they have for 2-4 years. Plus, the CUVs that everybody drives aren’t all much more inefficient than their sedan counterparts were
It’s park at your own risk. Every golf course has a sign stating something along the lines of “park at your own risk. The course is not responsible for any damage caused by stray balls”
A 1996 Grand Cherokee. My dad didn’t own cool cars
Wild thought: maybe people have different uses or camp in areas with a different terrain from you?
Green trucks are the best trucks. Fight me.
Every vehicle built on the Ultium platform will essentially be “reskinned”. They share the same base architecture, but that’s about it. Nothing is going to be interchangeable aside from maybe some little interior plastics
The Spark EV didn’t meet his requirements for affordable EV either apparently
Tesla was also claiming it would be in production a year ago. They do a lot of claiming
HEY ERIK SHILLING! You see this? Put your money where your mouth is you pessimistic thick fuck
talk shit about his hair all you want, but as someone that works out 5 days/week, I just gotta say that the guy has incredible calf genetics. I hate that I’m jealous of one of these smoothbrained pinecones
The thing is, if you need a new vehicle and you’re going to spend $22k regardless of propulsion system, the EV is going to be the smarter choice. But yes, going out of your way to replace a vehicle that doesn’t actually need to be replaced is just spending money that doesn’t need to be spent.
My $4000 suburban has cost me probably less than $10,000 in total over the last 2.5 years between cost of the truck, repairs, gas, and insurance. I’m convinced that $4-5000 is the sweet spot for vehicle value
