In the original design the gauge was on a single plinth sticking out from the front. It was a cool look, but in practice he found he needed something to grip against with his knees to make the bike functionally competent. That’s why it was re-designed to connect to the frame.

The plastic thing at the center of pizza is to prevent the top of the box from coming down and pressing into the molten cheese

Yep. I’d rather not drive than do it with a system like this unless I medically need it and if I medically need it I shouldn’t be driving anyway.

Drivers Ed?

Entitled asshole car company that makes cars for entitled assholes, acts like an entitled asshole. Details at 11

Good. Now make it momentarily deactivatable with a button on the steering wheel so I can floor it from stop lights when I want to. I think this is a good idea, I just don’t want it to dumb down cars completely.

I work in software and I’m already coming up with use cases where I can see the necessity to floor it while traveling at under 19 mph.

Yep, Tesla and everyone else have to go through these exact same EPA tests, so unless they are cheating the tests (and Porsche’s corporate family is the one with experience there), it should be pretty much and apples to apples comparison.

Ur right. Porsche loved it when I got a quarter-million people to look at this:

Pushing the envelope but legally a bicycle.

Agreed. I purchased a Bafang BBSHD kit (like pictured above) and commuted on nice days. 10 miles each way to work, and on days with heavy traffic I know I’m quicker than driving.

I ride an ebike. Home built using an old specialized trail bike. I love it. Ride it every day, use it for commuting. 30mph, 15-20 mile range (I live 2.5 miles from work). It saves a ton of money, and is really enjoyable. I have a regular bike too, but almost never ride it anymore.

Tesla’s use of the word autopilot, in hindsight, is probably less-than-desirable fucking stupid. mirroring the definition from aviation.

If the cop car is there with flashing lights, how long was the dude staring at the dog in the back? I mean, before he turned his head, shouldn’t he have seen the flashing lights? Did he assume his car would see them?

From Tesla’s website when you are building a custom car and deciding whether to option Full Self Driving Capability: “The currently enabled features require active driver supervision and do not make the vehicle autonomous.”

Some people pick large, strategically important and functionally necessary hills to die on.
