The constant ending of his tweets with an exclamation point is so fucking annoying. I read it as FAKE. Bullshit. I know this because I recently realized that I do the same on my Instagram most of the time, which is sadly just a way for me to be like I’M DOING GREAT EVERYONE. When really I’m dying inside.
The irony being that these kids are walking out because it’s not even safe at school was clearly lost on whomever wrote that letter
I just read a long and thoughtful letter from our principal congratulating the students on their organizing and doing the walkout, commenting both their doing the right thing and representing it well, supporting them, and basically saying seven ways to Sunday how awesome they are and how proud the school is of them.
My sons middle school in Eugene, Oregon sent a long winded letter about how students walking out wouldn’t be safe and that the only safe place was inside the school and they would get unexcused absence mark and possibly suspension. They were really emphasizing how unsafe it was to walk out. My son walks to and from…
Ours put out a statement saying much the same, but went further adding that students would not be punished for protesting and they expressed support for gun control and do not support the idea of arming teachers. This happened in AZ. There were walkouts & protests in small rural towns. None of this would have happened…
I hope the ACLU stands by their promise to represent anyone who was unduly punished for their actions today. Cancelling prom? Please, don’t tell me that is a regular punishment when a student cuts class
Could not be more pleased with my daughters’ district, which, just to provide some context, is 22 percent ELL and 44 percent free or reduced lunch eligible. The superintendent sent a message to parents last week that said the district “unequivocally supports our students’ Constitutional rights to peaceful assembly and…
I fervently hope that every single person or school administrator who did anything to punish these kids has their actions dragged out into the open and crushed under the weight of public outrage. THIS is what democracy looks like, you cowardly fuckers. (Sorry. Feelin’ a bit testy about this.)
The more conservatives tighten their grip, the more children will slip through their fingers...
I’m so sorry you had to go through such a toxic experience. No one should ever have to go through something like that, and I hope you can eventually find more peace away from the grasp of that horrible person and that toxic environment.
It’s interesting, though, that they manage to compartmentalize enough to spend TAX dollars and not their own salaries on their fripperies and frills.
Holy Hell that’s some seriously shitty racist behavior from a supervisor that is supposed to work with and for another race.
I can only speak to my experience working almost exclusively in Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) departments. The BIE is under the BIA, of course. One dynamic that the report from High Country News does not explicitly state is that in many cases, the administrators are non-Indigenous, with the rank and file being…
And yet... if someone in the Obama administration acted this way, the Carson crowd would be sure to raise holy hell over it.
Yeah. I am a federal employee and in the extremely rare event we are allowed to have an in-person meeting for the multi-million dollar project I manage*, we are not allowed to have food or coffee provided at those meetings because it would be an improper use of gov’t funds. This shit makes me RAGE.
Have you tried being a millionaire? That always helps.
I’m an architect in Manhattan, these types are (unfortunately) my clients in their private lives. I can tell you that they truly do not understand why people are upset about their spending because they are continuing to live their lives as they would if they were still in the private sector. This is completely normal…
This annoys me to no end. I am a state employee and whenever the printer/copier runs out of paper I have to go to a supervisor and request more because we can’t even be trusted with one ream of paper.
I assume it looks like this...
