Add in the contracts with corporations for prison labor where inmates are paid pennies on the dollar, and its essentially a throwback to slavery. Keeping a huge segment of the population (that is disproportionately black and brown people) disenfranchised and working for free in order to enrich wealthy white people.
I also don’t get how interpreting the jurisdiction clause of the 14th amendment to be political jurisdiction/allegiance instead of legal jurisdiction helps their case. We’re talking about newborns, pretty sure they aren’t politically allied to any country at that point. And obviously you are subject to American laws…
Essentially, yes. They want to go back to a time where a black man could never be elected President.
Holy shit, they’re incapable of making anything about anyone other than themselves and empathy in general. The entitlement is just out of this world.
The idea that they want a meritocracy/pure competition is complete bullshit too. The reason they are doing everything possible to protect the social hierarchy with white, rich, straight men at the top and enable the rich to hoard their wealth is precisely because they know they couldn’t compete in a true meritocracy.…
I know the NY Times article is more anecdotal rather than a broad trend, and a small number, but there are some white religious suburban white women backing at least one Democrat this cycle. I don’t think there are enough to be the game changer the media has made them out to be, but I do think some exist. I’ll take…
I just read up on him and holy shit, how has he gotten off with mostly fines for nearly two decades worth of drug possession and driving while intoxicated charges? Is he related to someone important that can intervene and keep him out of trouble? Or would anyone else receive the same slap on the wrist?
They asked the woman upthread whose husband took a pic of it a year ago if they could use it lol they clearly know it’s not some plant
I think the left one is Janet Yellen but not 100% sure
I don’t know. I work for a nonprofit that does some small FB ad runs, and one of our sites has nonpartisan voter information on the statewide ballot measures, so we have to mark the ads as “political” content. I had to upload my personal ID, get mailed something at my house address (no business addresses) with a code…
Exactly. Some poor, terrified, and traumatized immigrants who just want a chance to come here for safety and security, do the jobs no American wants to do, and generally contribute to society are not a threat that requires a military response. They are 1000 miles away, for fucks sake. There was an article going around…
At least where I live in California, that is the type of ballot we use and it’s great. Just fill in the arrows, put it through the reader machine, and you’re done. I wonder if we could have a national standard for ballots? It’s insane to me that it varies so much state to state.
You know, I’ve never thought about how social media should ostensibly replace paparazzi (assuming the celebrity in question is on social media, I suppose). Makes all of the gross stalking of celebrities that still goes on somehow grosser.
It’s largely fueled by projection (they have shadowy billionaires influencing politics behind the scenes, so liberals must too) and anti-Semitism (shadowy rich Jews manipulating world events from behind the scenes is a long-time anti-Semitic conspiracy theory).
Damn, you’re not kidding. At least on Wikipedia, too, it says that Jacqueline (only) got a $5 million trust fund when her father died (out of an estate of $825 million). It says she sued the estate for $275 million in 2007 - anyone know what became of that? I hope she didn’t get anything else.
