Exactly. Some poor, terrified, and traumatized immigrants who just want a chance to come here for safety and security, do the jobs no American wants to do, and generally contribute to society are not a threat that requires a military response. They are 1000 miles away, for fucks sake. There was an article going around…
At least where I live in California, that is the type of ballot we use and it’s great. Just fill in the arrows, put it through the reader machine, and you’re done. I wonder if we could have a national standard for ballots? It’s insane to me that it varies so much state to state.
You know, I’ve never thought about how social media should ostensibly replace paparazzi (assuming the celebrity in question is on social media, I suppose). Makes all of the gross stalking of celebrities that still goes on somehow grosser.
It’s largely fueled by projection (they have shadowy billionaires influencing politics behind the scenes, so liberals must too) and anti-Semitism (shadowy rich Jews manipulating world events from behind the scenes is a long-time anti-Semitic conspiracy theory).
Damn, you’re not kidding. At least on Wikipedia, too, it says that Jacqueline (only) got a $5 million trust fund when her father died (out of an estate of $825 million). It says she sued the estate for $275 million in 2007 - anyone know what became of that? I hope she didn’t get anything else.
Probably a dumb question, but what is ASMR?
In California, you can also buy alcohol from a Costco without a Costco card. It’s against the law to have “alcohol clubs” or some shit like that, so they can’t stop you from going in, loading up on booze, and checking out without the card
Yeah, I had to read that a few times
How the hell is any of this legal?
I wonder what impact, if any, SFUSD’s lottery system has on the segregation of the schools? It’s my understanding that they started the system to reduce segregation by having all of the city’s kids mixed together, regardless of what area of the city they’re from. But, just like anywhere, there is nothing stopping…
From the USA Today, so grain of salt, but this report looks particularly worrying: https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2018/10/16/donald-trump-jeff-sessions-mueller-russia-matthew-whitaker-partisan-column/1641682002/
Come on, TED!
Yeah, the idea that the GOP is the party of “rule of law” when all of the top campaign people have pled guilty and TWO of the Trumpiest GOP congressmen are under indictment for financial crimes is a fucking joke.
Also, if you watch the surveillance video, not only was it not assault, but after he brushes by her, she does some weird hip gyration thing in the direction of the 9 year old she said just assaulted her. It’s about 0:30 in:
He likes it because it feeds his delusions of grandeur, while also showing the 239 lb version of Trump that only exists in his mind.
I know it was considerably different circumstances (GOP candidate credibly accused of being a child predator), but Alabama was able to do it! And I think if any Democrat had a good shot, it’d be Bredesen. He’s pretty well-liked even among conservatives in TN, right?
I was thinking that I’d love to witness his first time meeting all of the Justices/going into the SC for the first time. RBG probably stared daggers his way (and maybe a snarky comment), and I’d have loved to see that.
