I live in Lexington KY and the first reaction of everyone I spoke to (even native Lexingtonians!) when the city announced they were getting rid of the Confederate statues was "There are Confederate statues in Lexington? But we weren't even in the Confederacy!"

Almost all the statues that we're talking about here are commemorating people who actively and willingly fought in the Civil War as Confederates—traitors to the nation. Robert E. Lee didn't have to be a Confederate General. He chose to be. These aren't innocents who were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Like I

She's being recognized more and more.

Ohhhhh I get it now. You're one of those people who thinks we should keep Confederate statues because of "history." Germany has very strict laws about any imagery or promotion of Nazis. The statues that they preserved are given lots of context. We don't have that in the US. We celebrate the people who fought to

2020, I think.

The German Wehrmacht were the armed forces of the Nazi government. Some were conscripted, but some of them were also Nazis. If somebody wanted to have a statue commemorating the soldiers who were forced conscripts and died needlessly as cannon fodder, then that seems reasonable. But if they were willing participants,

There were German's who fought against the Nazis and were victims of the Nazi regime, so I'm cool with those. But if you're talking about commemorating Nazis, then obviously I'm not for that.

They should all be replaced with statues commemorating people who bravely fought AGAINST slavery. That way we keep the history lesson without glorifying the guys who were on the wrong side of it.

I grew up in Springfield VA, home to Robert E. Lee High School, conveniently located at the bottom of the beltway.

That would be wonderfully cathartic!

I don't want them banned, I just want there to be noise standards for vehicles. (All vehicles, not just motorcycles.) There have been studies showing that the amount of noise most urban/suburban dwellers are subjected to every day has a negative impact on health. And for those that are sensitive to noise, such as

Nope. I'm talking about the dicks who are next to me on their bikes, while I'm in my car, making a ridiculous amount of noise. Even without revving an engine, every motorcycle I've ever heard has been incredibly loud, even through a car window (and god forbid if I actually have my window down). It's like a chainsaw

You forgot throwing large logs, deep frying candy bars (and pretty much everything else), and, of course, IRN-BRU.

Hey, how about before you do that, you hand ear plugs out to all the rest of the people around you too? And give them fair warning so it doesn't scare the crap out of someone not expecting a ridiculously loud noise out of nowhere.

Don't forget that the Nazis were inspired by American doctor's efforts in eugenics with our very own sterilization programs.

Did you see the Vice interviews with the white nationalists? There's not much sympathetic about them if you let them open their mouths. I think a show like that would be a lot better than depicting all terrorists as Muslim like they do now.

The title says he defends the BLM in his speech. He does not. He gives context as to the environment that the killings occurred (i.e. why people are angry on both sides) and he condemned the killings.

And don't forget the Hobbit-themed restaurant in Old Town Alexandria!

That's inappropriate on many levels. Many levels.
