Not really surprising considering that the Republicans' only policy for a while now is to just burn everything to the ground.

The lizard people resent you implying that Trump is one of them.

THEN WHY ARE YOU HERE??

Thank goodness we found it before the Kinja-pocalypse! The AV Club can now die with honor.

Maybe he was in the middle of a D&D game and was talking about the many-sided dice.

Let's see what 1980 has for me…
Health: post-traumatic stress disorder, insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, urge incontinence, bird flu
Culture: air guitar, comb-over, differently abled, foodie, homeschool, yuppie, hip-hop
Tech: spell-checker, TCP/IP, markup language, Usenet, bitmap, voice mail
Slang/phrases:

No he's a REAL unicorn, not a unhappily married man's fantasy.

Deckard isn't a replicant, he's a unicorn.

I spent the first two years at one high school, moved to a new school my junior year and then moved BACK to my old high school for my senior year. It was confusing for everyone except the bullies, who just picked up where they left off.

You're all off-topic! Off with your thread!

fire and fury war?

People in high school don't get jobs anymore.

Yeah, that was my last hope that maybe something would be done to curb the hysteria that cops seem to have against black people, but nope. I really don't get it - why do people find black men so scary that it's considered reasonable for a cop to be terrified just standing next to one?

See: response to black man being president

We're not being ignored - we're the ones throwing snark!

Sorry, all the news had been about how North Korea could hit Chicago now so I missed that you were talking about LA. Though it's kinda funny that people are just talking about the effects on the east coast, like screw those flyover states in between. (Note: I am from the east coast but now live in a flyover state.)

You know the government has produced fallout maps, right? And they do show that a bomb hitting Chicago would increase cancer rates on the east coast. When nuclear bombs hit, their starting speed is 300 m/s, so the initial blast pushes the radiation outwards much faster than the prevailing winds.

Most of the radiation would be gone in about 7 hours, but planes can fly across the country in 4 hours, so winds could still probably get enough radioactive particles to the east coast to increase cancer rates significantly.

Transport for London had a contest to figure out how to make the trains and stations cooler in the Underground because there was no air conditioning and people were passing out on the trains. I think the winning plan was a series of strategically placed fans.

On the plus side, it's fun to watch tourists struggle to walk up some of the absurdly long escalators when they're not working. (Looking at you, Dupont Circle!)
