@redman042: I see no reason to download an app for a website. The reason I have applications on my computer is because it isn't practical to upload a 2GB video file so I can edit it or encode it on the web. It's practical to do everything locally. Apps that need internet access to run and go to the internet for data

@Edd White: And what happens when consumers start to expect that 16mbps connection from all sites, and the ISP refuses to sell it to competitors. Then you have anti-trust problems and a Microsoft of the 90s.

@Marand: P2P didn't replace FTP at all. Peer to Peer has no centralized access point form which data is acquired. File Transfer Protocol is a way to transfer files from a server to clients. P2P has clients turn in to servers, FTP doesn't. They serve different purposes.

@oneofthedreamers: "640k of memory ought to be enough for anyone." (not a Bill Gates quote)

@EBone: Hooray for hoarding digital media!

@KaZx: Are you serious? There's about 30 cameras at the sideline of every game.

@Derfel: I find it hard to throw myself out when cleaning too.

@KingRadical: Well, that's great for google, what's your point? Google has absolutely nothing to do with this conversation. Why you feel the need to bring that up, and the fact that its younger is beyond me. My comment to chris was to make the point that Oracle isn't some tiny company that nobody has ever heard of (as

@andrew_berge: Like being tied and standing so the falling is involuntary?

@cobaltage: How is it better to use a proprietary device, subject to changing and breaking everything (e.g. Snow Leopard), better than creating a website, viewable on any modern browser? It would be much easier to get someone to make and support a website instead of an iPad app.

This is kinda cool, but unless this can also be achieved on a laptop (maybe not all of it, but most), I don't like this idea. Laptops are ubiquitous on a college campus, but poor college students probably aren't running out to buy iPads, especially considering they probably all have smart phones and laptops.

@JakeMG: Ω Man: Approved, promoted, and starred all at once. Along with 5 other people. Never been back since.

@HK-47: R&D labs do some really amazing stuff, even if it doesn't come to market (at all or within the next 10 years), but its still amazing.

@chrisgr26: Oracle the massive company with a market cap of $114 billion, 10x that o f Adobe.

@A Pimp Named DaveR: I only have 2 stars, and one of them is on tv.gawker where I've only made one single post :(

@Alan Rosenthal: It can take months to do that on certain sites where you're required to seed.

@c010rb1indusa: It doesn't work so well when you need to keep a ratio, and you routinely have 5-12GB torrents.

@Gigglebox: He makes a point out of grammar being a big deal, but he doesn't even read things before running and talking about them.

@Mufinn Man: Actually, it's not ironic. It is fitting though, since I do advocate for this plan.
