Weed lets us be ok with boredom. on some cruises its 1 or more days at sea with nothing else to see. So a little bowl and an hour of watching the world go by is a super nice treat.

I was on a cruise with my wife last spring, had a stop in Ensenada. I think 7 or 8 people forgot about the weed they had on them and ended up in Mexican jail. Whoops.

The risk of a boat being raided and searched top to bottom is probably pretty real in some of the destination countries.  And the sizeable majority of passengers who don’t bring weed or edibles on board are not going to be too pleased about being subject to those searches.

My guess they are partly doing this to drive booze sales but possibly also to for show to regulators in countries where marijuana continues to be stupidly illegal... so the cruise operators don’t get hassled by local authorities.

Which is especially shitty given what a great cast they put together for the new characters. Along with Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac are all charming as fuck and they had great chemistry together. 

His character arc was the one I liked. And the one that existed because no one else seemed to have one.
