Rape is a form of mental control. Rape as a result of mental control, being made to feel that you want it when you know you don't, is just doubly heinous. You can't separate rape and mind control in the way the show presents it because the rapes on this show are a result of the mind control. So the victims are just

There is no "worse" when one is a result of the other. And rape itself is already a violation of body and mind. What don't you get about that?

There's an actual support group in the show for people who have been under his powers, ranging from tortured victims to a guy who had to give up a coat and considered that the be-all. The mind control and the emotional fallout is addressed several times throughout the series, but you take issue the one time they

It's absolutely not at all mental gymnastics, it's a romantic friendship. Again, I accept that it won't happen, but I refuse to be told that all of their romantic blocking and dialogue is somehow made up in my head, or the heads of those who have seen the same thing.

Different strokes. To me, they almost always look ready for a slow lean in, TV-style kiss in so many of their scenes together.

Except there are many, many, many people who don't understand that lack of/manipulated consent equals rape.

Damn Matrix and her plucky young lesbian, already being the delegated gays of the show. If you guys weren't around, I'd be at least 27% more likely to see gay Trish and Jessica.

I disagree, I feel almost all of their conversations and interactions have had the same kind of heat behind them. One that implies extremely strong feelings that don't always read as platonic. As I said before, I accept that they won't happen, but I truly believe they are written in a way that allows such conclusions

That's how it felt for me, as well. Jessica and Trish are the couple I'm invested in, platonically or otherwise. Because they give me plenty to go on, unlike Jessica and Luke which just seems to point me to the fact that they got together in the comics so they're obviously ~meant to be. Which pales in comparison.

It's not, though, because in this instance one (rape) is a result of the other (mind control/violation) and is already, in itself, a violation of one's mind and body as it is. So, again, double whammy of violation.

About Trish and Jess being exes? Because I don't blame that reviewer at all.

I ALMOST CLAPPED.

When I watched that scene with my friend my exact reaction was to say, "Holy shit, I'm glad they actually put it into words." Watching the episodes leading up to it, I was somewhat worried that they wouldn't, but I think their holding off really added to the impact of the scene. They're less shy about using it as the

You know it's kind of a double whammy to be raped while also losing your own free will and being forced to say yes to it, right? I'm not really sure what you're trying to get at here.

Fair enough.

I thought that story really exemplified his character's tunnel vision bullshit.

It really is.

Simpson seems like another version of the kind of male privilege/superiority thing that this show wants to dismantle: he will not take no for an answer because he thinks he knows better. Always. Kilgrave doesn't allow no's to come up, Simpson just ignores them when it suits him. He nestles himself into Trish's life

Luke is just a nonentity to me, which is a bit of a big flaw when presenting a superhero, so I'm a little shocked at all the love he is getting. And can only assume that a good portion of it is for the character rather than just this character. I can take forced romances because I have to accept them on TV, but
