I like how the plural of 'Rabin' is 'Rabin'.

You're definitely one of the main reasons I come here first when it comes to film, Mr. Tobias, and you've more than earned my trust as a critic to pay attention to. As a staunch non-Twittererer, I hope your former colleagues here will keep us all abreast of where you're at. Thank you sincerely for all your time,…
That's the sort of thing that Mr. Tobias is notable (or notorious) for, but rightfully so: his level breakdowns of transgressive cinema are rare in that they meet those extremes on their own terms, and without the demagoguery of either moralizing or bloodthirst.
I'd like to rep Ms. Koski: she's steadily becoming a writer I actively look for breakdowns of culture. She has the kind of combination of insightful analysis and personal reaction that I really like.
Well, I finally got my Ryan Howard joke.
…That'll do. Thanks!
The Awake pilot is fucking amazing. It's even pretty self-contained: you could absolutely watch the pilot as a standalone 45-min. short film.
I was holding it together until now.
…Somebody say something wittily offensive, please!
Wait, what about Banks?
….GODDAMMNIT FUCK
@avclub-9ff7c9eb9d37f434db778f59178012da:disqus Yes, that's something that crucially bugs me about Kael, how she would inculcate your approval as a symptom of some moral and aesthetic failure of the world, whereas Ebert understood the passionate myopia of individual taste and personal experience.
Well said, sir. And pearls for anyone who writes, whether paid and respected or us snarkers on the webs.
He stayed engaged, questing, genuine, and passionate through decades of change and heavy personal shit; his accumulated respect and continued relevance are simply byproducts of his truth of spirit. Immensely sad to think we won't hear from him again.
Talk shows take week-long breaks all throughout the year, and as @avclub-3bca94e353e508c1a49bf984fc5c346d:disqus says voice gigs are easy to schedule, as you very rarely record with other actors. As for her other stuff: Craig Ferguson still does stand-up regularly, though his show is the complete opposite of an…
No no, the correct follow-up was supposed to be "The name of The Band." Also acceptable: "You sound like an owl, @avclub-a3e80e62340f85e584f072b212415d32:disqus."
That would be better than this world (in the middle of the pack of all possible worlds) deserves.
Who?
Oh SHIT, Aisha Tyler is a genius fucking idea.
You picked a real bad comparison with Superman, who's been published in multiple titles and even in daily newspapers for over eighty fucking years. Better off with someone like Aquaman, for whom an obsessively comprehensive knowledge of surely represents some extreme of misanthropy.
Oh christ, they can't lay a finger on punk geeks for smugness.
Here's what drives me nuts about Kevin Smith (amongst many other things, admittedly): without a doubt he could make a pretty damn good stand-up comedian, but in order to do that he'd have to both give up on his filmmaking ambitions and actually lay his titanic yet fragile ego on the line and go out in front of mixed…
