If you are leaving, freeze a cup of water and put a coin on the ice in the freezer before you go. Upon return, if the coin is still on top, you know that the freezer didn’t lose power. If it is only partially in the ice, say 1/4", your food might still be OK to eat. If it is at the bottom of the cup, toss the contents.

Taillights!

Nah, this is a pretty Asian.

A friend of mine makes these:

This is one of very few BMWs I can actually say I really like looking at— that long hood and shark nose are simply tremendous. That being said it’s a lot of dough for an old Bavarian with some questionable mods (dat radio and them seats) done to it. CP.

2 am in Florida, Feds including ICE agents quietly line up outside a quiet, unassuming white import shop. They place chains on the large overhead door which are firmly attached to the back of an acquired MRAP. With a solid tug and wail from the diesel powered behemoth, it rips the entire door and parts of the wall

This is such good advice, even though these conversations can be uncomfortable. I particularly like the notes at the end, in which the author basically says, “If your boss won’t listen or help, feel free to move on.” People are so hesitant to change jobs sometimes, and it’s unfortunate when that loyalty is misplaced.

Almost always doesn’t matter how an opportunity falls in your lap, it’s what you do with it that determines how your life turns out. I say almost because there will always be truly horrible companies to work for or really unethical reasons why you got a tap on the shoulder. Some of the best jobs I ever got was because

In a BMW you never have to signal.

I was there. Hearing her husband say, on the phone to the insurance company, “yeah my wife hit a Ferrari" was one of the most gut-wrenching moments of empathy I've ever experienced. I wanted to give the guy a hug.

You definitely need a reputable mechanic.

It’s awfully close to being a good looking car. Maybe ditch the Zoro mask around the headlights.

Good NY PI lawyers check for the metrics the court will look for: 1) obvious broken bone, or 2) a visible scar. Both of those almost guarantee a settlement before going to court. Without those details, it’s hit or miss (no pun intended).

Just went through this with my employer. It took nearly 6 months and about 4 meetings to hammer it out but it done last week. I ended up with a base pay increase of 10%, I asked for 15%, and some multipliers for projects I work on went from 1 to 1.5 and 1.75 to 3. I brought a ton of data on similar jobs and ultimately

Also utterly ignore the HR department. I just recently landed a job change and the HR department at every turn kept telling me “they wont go that high”,” They wont give you that”, or “they will not change that”

I did something similar to this earlier. http://lanternslight.us/2015/06/04/tec… The thing is that if I was going to college I wouldn’t want a laptop. I would wan’t a desktop and a tablet. Something portable with good battery life and access to cloud storage. (WiFi being campus wide) Then a desktop that I could expand
