I agree, I defended the movie on the review posted here when it came out. Totally fucking hilarious. Generally critics don’t appreciate straight-up goofy comedies, there has to be something more. Like Step Brothers is rated rotten when it’s definitely a masterpiece.

Personally I think the Get Schwifty episode is a better example of “good enough”. The purge episode is great imo.

I’d much rather we have 5 more episodes of Rick and Morty this year than just one.

The rape in Young Frankenstein is completely different imo. It’s absurd and totally separate from our reality. It’s basically like a funny, off-color, sanitized porno scene. I don’t think that scene counts as mocking victims of rape or trivializing the institutionalized history of it.

How is it disturbing? It’s been a year since the character’s death and the kung-fu joke has nothing to do with making fun of that fact. Seems smart to be low-key about revealing the information this way.

A Serbian Film was a terrible, sickening movie. I felt it had no redeeming value.

I hold that any true progressive society would not be built on such an inherently disgusting form of rule.

Hunger Games and Twilight have at least at some point been relevant to our culture. Maze Runner is totally insignificant to anything and everything.

GoT borrows much of its plot from real history, so it kind of is based on earth. Plus he entire concept of a “throne” and royalty wouldn’t exist in a truly progressive society...

I’ve enjoyed every single episode of that show, so in my view the writers have succeeded. Mulling over their motives for including all the crazy shit that goes down on that show would ruin it for me, I think.

Hm well I’ve never noticed that, I just kind of take these shows in, whatever they bring. I’d like to believe the writers have reasons for what they do and aren’t throwing in rape scenes simply to shock people. If they are that sucks.
