It’s partly Worfing, and partly because the writers backed themselves into a corner by establishing that dragons are nukes and then having to constantly explain why Dany doesn’t just use them to take over the continent in like a week.

The point is that, if she were a man, she’d be the Assertive King, but because she’s a woman, she’s the Mad Queen. Daenerys tries to think of herself as good, but she’s a conqueror, and there’s no way around that. The problem, on the show, beside the obvious sexism, is that she follows her advisers advice and keeps…
the CHARACTERS are ignoring her, not the show. there is a subtle difference, but the show has proven that its aware of these sorts of things. how often has a woman in the workplace done something fantastic, only to get overshadowed by a more well-liked male co-worker? that is what is happening here. they are drawing…
THIS! It’s been getting on my nerves for a while now. Every single decision that Daenerys made while listening to her advisers was the wrong one, and it all led up to the situation now. If she had just burned down the Red Keep as soon as she reached Westeros, none of the bullshit would have happened. It started…
I get that they wanted to do a “Dany loses her grib on her power base (and sanity)“ and that may even be GRRMs final goal with her story. But having it rushed through with the last few truncated seasons, makes it come out of nowhere and makes Dany look like a bitter cunt. And it is kinda lame, if it is indeed GRRMs…
Dany: Sacrifices her people, her dragons, her father figure to fight the dead. GoT: Silence.
It was hit to the breast.
Glance the Wing.
Hit the throat while foundering.
Splash....
No visual or audio queue to show there are others that are missed.
so, are you saying that this show has ... Jumped the Stark?
I thought it was pretty gross, too, w/r/t women. Basically, if Daenerys doesn’t listen to her (male) advisers and exercise caution, which, thus far, has resulted in a steady weakening of her position, then she’s a Mad Queen. I posted this more or less elsewhere, but just imagine how it would be if, say, Jon was the…
Time invested. I’ve spent years watching this show, and really enjoyed it at the start (along with the books). Since they passed Martin’s novels, the general consensus is that the quality of the show has seriously deteriorated. At this point I’m happy to watch the last two episodes and see it done.
They’re using the dragons like TNG used Worf: something for the villain to beat up on to prove just how SRS BSNS the villain is.
I was tired of the show (and books, TBH, after A Feast for Crows) awhile back but I’m just a big pile of ‘meh’. The writing is so inconsistent and incoherent, and nobody acts in-character…
Beyond Dani’s snubbing at Winterfell, Sansa’s “my history of sexual assault and being sold as a political marriage pawn got me to this point so I’m cool w/ it all,” & Jamie shitting on Brienne to scurry back to Cersi:
Huge boo/hiss for Missandrei, only 1 or 2 PoC characters w/ speaking roles, getting beheaded - while…
I just wrote a much less succinct version of why I’m totally with you on this on the other GOT recap thread. Last night’s episode was utter horse shit almost in its entirety.
you may not have noticed but in addition to be effectively heatseeking missile launchers they were also mounted on some beautifully crafted frames that swiveled like a brand new 4 pound office chair *and* had no kickback.
I’ll suffer through the last two episodes only to see *how* Sansa ends up on the iron throne. Last night’s episode was the worst one of the show so far (especially in its treatment of women) for me. It’s really obvious that this season has to cram in two books worth of events, and they ain’t doing all that well. It’s…
The level of annoying coincidences just continues to grow. Apparently the ships were able to hide from not only the fleet, but also the dragons soaring a few hundred feet above? And not only where they able to hide, but then they were able to swing around the coast, aim their magic crossbows that don’t lose speed and…
Those bolts are perhaps the laziest addition to date. The amount of energy it would take to fling something like those giant bolts that far, that fast, would be insane. The bolt thrower would explode way before that much tension was created.
After this episode, I thought back to when I read the ending to GoT, and then saw it on TV not long after. What an incredibly amazing, climactic, and powerful way to end a book. And what a concept! Magic has been “dying/dead” for a while, a relic of an older world that’s now more of a fantasy tale than reality. But…
Yeah, I got to the point where I was like “just kill them all and get it over with so I can finally put this trainwreck (dragonwreck?) behind me.” Oh well.
I remember reading somewhere that the writer compared them to weapons of mass destruction not unlike winged nuclear weapons. Never saw a nuclear missile taken down by a stick with a pointy metal big propelled by a string, but it’s not like I’m some Moltke or Clausewitz.
