I totally agree with you here, just want expand on what you said. The problem with the way its currently designed is it will take months to finish because you have to have the weapon equipped, which makes sense...but makes the rate at which it progresses absolutely obnoxious  

I couldn’t agree more. It’s kind of ruining the game for me. I’m going stick it out obviously, because the rest of the game is amazing. But I keep hoping that they’ll patch it out of the game or give us some way to fix weapons...then I remember this game was made by Nintendo. It’ll probably never even get a patch.
